ZBook crashes when on battery
ZBook crashes when on battery
ZBook crashes (turns off unexpectedly) when running on battery. Also when waking up from sleep... Makes system unusable for any serious work.
Are there any special Bios settings or some other settings that could solve this?

Re: ZBook crashes when on battery
So, (to make it sure) can we say no problem when power adapter is plugged ?gpaladin wrote: Sun Nov 08, 2020 12:48 pm ZBook crashes (turns off unexpectedly) when running on battery.
If yes, you can install tlpui from MXPI Test Repo, and see on Gui what's up ..
(or remove tlp for now to see if it helps, later you can install again if you like)
P.S. That link is just for info about tlp. Install/remove via "MX Package Installer".
If there's SSD especially, set sata mode to Ahci in Bios.
But if you have Windows, too, in order not to make that unbootable, you need to open Regedit first and make 2 simple changes there.
... and always: Menu => MX Tools => Quick System Info :)

Re: ZBook crashes when on battery
Thank you. I have been using 3 ZBook machines with windows ove the last 6 years. Currently two different machines, 15 and 17. Never had them shut down when on Windows.j2mcgreg wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:21 am That's a known problem with that laptop and here's a solution, as posted on the Spiceworks forum:

installed tlpui. Still crashes.
Will change SATA mode as advised and get back with the results.
Thanks!
Re: ZBook crashes when on battery
In case it still goes on; this time remove tlp then observe :
Reboot.
(Yes, that's a software for improving battery life, but when you can't find anything on gui ... )
P.S. But go on with Ahci; that's a recommendation in general for SSDs to perform better and/or work properly .
Code: Select all
sudo apt purge tlp -y
