but the problem is that version 68 is vulnerable while the latest 78 is not...
maybe security fixes will get backported to version 68 though

Security is one thing, but a major worry for many is the change of email account's profile. If you don't like the upgrade, downgrade to 68, but no longer access to the account(s). There are guidelines but still, cause a worry that emails are lost.

Yes it was posted here since the issue overlaps between FF and TB, both projects are rather closely related.

Anyway. I assume that everybody will be pleased and excited to learn that only today, Thunderbird has advanced to 78.4.3: Thunderbird Release Notes Version 78.4.3, first offered to channel users on November 11, 2020
