I might have removed stuff that tango icons were linked to, however faenza had no links as I remember and removing it shaved off 80MB.

Overall, nice build. Thanks.

Okay, might be unrelated, but need some help.

What is the plymouth theme that is used when live iso boots? Cyan and yellow color scheme, text based info along with progressing dots?
Can anyone point me to the download or the theme name or even a zip file of the theme folder please?

That's not plymouth at all. It's something in-house.

Care to share if that can be had instead of naked boot by default given it's not plymouth theme?

You'll have to wait for dolphin, anticapitalista, mybe fehlix or bitjam to come online to explain.

It's called tsplash and meant only for the live system. As I understand it, the live system does not use grub to boot up so if one wanted something other than the normal scrolling text during boot, we couldn't use plymouth. I have no idea if the converse is possible, ie using tsplash when booting with grub.

First introduced in MX19.

Thanks asquerth, looking forward for more dev. explanations. (for understanding and learning)

In the meantime, I found a good collection of small plymouth themes with lots of OEM logos.
Here: https://github.com/gevera/plymouth_themes

Looks like a great match for underpowered hardware. Installed the HP logo one, looks good so far on the HP Thin Client T610!

Right now the live text boot splash is only on the live system.

I think the live system has its own grub. If you open the .iso with an archive tool, it's in /boot/grub

the live system uses syslinux for legacy booting and grub for UEFI booting.

we do not include plymouth in the live initrd, preferring to keep the live initrd as close as possible to antiX.

I got MX-19.2_flux_base_386 as a replacement for MX-19.2_August_386 on a Pentium M laptop with no hard drive. This time I was able to create a fully live USB system instead of read-only via dd in Maker. Tested first on a Core2 Duo and then brought to the laptop where Flux went up in just a minute and a half. Was impressed with how fast Firefox 81 launched. After adding SMPlayer this stick will be the perfect system for the laptop.
