Re: I miss kivy for python3

Is this a package request or is it a just a "I miss you Kivy" post? :p

It seems Debian skipped packaging it for Buster, but they have a package for Bullseye, so it shouldn't be hard to backport for MX-19 since it looks like its ready to build.

I can add it to my list since it looks like an easy one.

just to be clear I'm packaging this one:
https://packages.debian.org/testing/source/kivy
not going to hunt down the 1.11.1 version that seems to exist.

Ok spoke too soon, looks like this is going to take a bit more than just a 1min backport, but I'll get back to it a bit later.

There is a whole section of the forum dedicated to package requests and statuses. Please understand that we don't have 100s of people doing this though, so please don't abuse us too much. ;)

Some quidance on requesting packages:

You're still pretty new to MX, would be worth while reading the Manual, FAQ, poke around in the wiki. Folks have put a lot of time into them, they are really helpful.

Yes, you are right. Unfortunately, RTFM is what I often do last :(

Apologies on the long delay on this, but I just sent kivy 1.11.0 for inclusion to the repos.
Using MX Package Installer you can first check the Stable Repo first, then MX Test Repo, it will take at the most a day I think for it to get added.

If you do see this and can't wait, you can get it here
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h42yjp ... sp=sharing The link will only be good for a few days, I'll remove it when its in the repos.
NEW USERS START HERE FAQS, MX Manual, and How to Break Your System - Don't use Ubuntu PPAs! Always post your Quick System Info (QSI) when asking for help.

Uuhhh, i had to switch from amd64 to i386

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt install '/home/as/Dokumente/kivi/python3-kivy_1.11.0-2~mx19+1_i386.deb'
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut.
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen.... Fertig

as@kiste:~
$ python3
Python 3.7.3 (default, Jul 25 2020, 13:03:44)
[GCC 8.3.0] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>>

I switched and now kivi is installed but i have to check if all works with i386 in the next days. If not, me can wait for the amd64 version.

Holy universe! I destroyed all programs what depends on Python3:amd64 :bouncing:

So me go back to Python3:amd64 and wait for the amd64 version of kivy.
