#1 Post by thinkpadx »

i just ran across this trying to register. when searched i have seen multiple posts re: peoplequestiong/complaining/ and even saying this is the stupidest captcha ever. what happens if you are new and trying to register and am not a commnd line dude? what then. i gave up and said too bad. lived this long without joining their forum - i am fine. but had to see what others thought about it.

mx forums has helped me whenever i needed a bit of help. so all is well.

I think most people need a computer to find the output of date -u +%jXfce|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'
So how does that prove they're human?

Captcha or reCaptcha is a violation Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) https://www.usa.gov/disability-rights Gagle (Google) is the one that started this captcha or reCaptcha garbage which serves no propose other than to aggravate people, raise blood pressure to unsafe levels, and to discriminate against people with disabilities!

Replying to Mauser:
Come on, surely you can see that there is a purpose: namely that forums and websites face an issue with spam and this is one attempt to try to reduce it. Whether that particular solution works well or not is a different issue.

I've read that Google uses Re/Captcha to help with digitising books etc. So if a word is difficult to decipher using an algorithm , it ends up being deciphered by us typing the letters on our keyboard... pretty clever (although I'm guessing others won't see it that way ;) ).

I always we are training self-driving autos with all the tests for traffic lights, crosswalks, buses, motorbikes, and bicycles. It also seems they really want to make sure the thing doesn't park near hydrants.
