Has .deb files intended for ubuntu and requires gambas etc. dependencies, shows missing dependencies if tried to manually install from .deb file.

Would be thankful if included in MXPI.

Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
Gambas 3.12 is available in the stable repo. Specifically what dependencies does it say are missing?

Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
I think the tarball needs really looked at first, not really liking that the code isn't actually in GitHub, just a tarball and .deb.
Documentation is a bit limited, would be nice if they said which version of NFS it supported.
I'd want to see what it actually does when they state:

Also, there is Warpinator in the repos, it doesn't need dependencies as we already have them, has a bit more useful and current capabilities than this, and is well maintained and documented. Worth looking at in the mean time.- Install the minimal package relevant to NFS.
- Edit the following files for a Server : /etc/exports ; /etc/hosts.deny ; /etc/hosts.allow
- Edit /etc/fstab for a Client
- Make a dir for the mount point for a Client

Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
I need an easy solution to mount a network drive set up on a particular PC for backups, rsync etc. Warpinator is not suitable in this regard. NFS/CIFS looks buggy to me on MX by default config and I don't wanna mess with it anymore and have more headaches (I have already tried "Samba" GUI in MX). So, I want to try the NFS route this time.
Some coverage of this utility I found on the net:

Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
There's something basically wrong with this program: on the one hand it wants a new version (3.14) of gambas packages (which are in MX Test), on the other hand it needs gambas3-gb-qt4, which doesn't even exist anymore in Debian stable. I tried fiddling with the .deb file to install it with gambas3-gb-qt5, but then the program won't start. Also in the ubuntu ppa "Gambas stable builds" there is no gambas3-gb-qt4 package for Ubuntu 20.04. So this program should be rewritten for qt5.
Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
But: the older version works (confusingly called 1.0.9 but in fact 1.0.14). It uses gtk instead of qt. It doesn't work with the recent Gambas packages from MX Test, so I had to reinstall these first.
If it actually works as intended I don't know, but it installs and can be opened with sudo in a terminal.

Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
So there's something seriously wrong with the current state of the application and its releases...

Re: Request : Simple NFS GUI
I looked at their GitHub really quick, still don't get why they only uploaded a tarball and .deb.agnivo007 wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2020 2:29 am So there's something seriously wrong with the current state of the application and its releases...
I haven't had any time to look at this, but I doubt it will be worth the effort at this time.
Someone already posted an issue on GitHub about it
https://github.com/Philippe734/Simple.NFS.GUI/issues/21
You can post to that issue saying you'd like it to be updated, but GitHub says the developer hasn't made contributions since June (Hope they are ok at least).
Just from the review and the README it looks like it helps provide a solution for many users, its a shame about its status.
I wonder if there are any other applications out there that are similar?

Well, let's leave it out the way it is in, then... thanks all for your time.
