I found a way to remove that stupid DisableAppUpdate profile by deleting the profiles.json file. Now the file isn t there anymore. Firefox documentation states profiles.json is used to manage enterprise profiles, so where s the file? It s bs that devs locked down firefox. Whats next?

Recently I read on the Firefox sub-reddit that access to about:config has been disabled in the latest release of Firefox for Android.
There was some speculation that other platforms would follow.
If you have settings that you use in about:config you can find them in prefs.js then take them and make a user.js which will override any prefs.js settings.
This will save you from having to go through your set-up each time for Firefox (and probably any browser based on it).

So time to throw in the towel for FF? You can install both Pale Moon and Vivaldi from the MX Package Installer...jeffreyC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 1:55 pm Recently I read on the Firefox sub-reddit that access to about:config has been disabled in the latest release of Firefox for Android.

Still works for me. Here's my about:config from my totally up to date firefox android. And if it stops working, the very next comments in that thread state that you just move to beta and you get it back.jeffreyC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 1:55 pm Recently I read on the Firefox sub-reddit that access to about:config has been disabled in the latest release of Firefox for Android.

I would rather uninstall mx updater considering it gives me no ability to say no to any updates, or rather, specific updates. It s all or nothing with it.dolphin_oracle wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 1:14 pm you can always uninstall our repo supplied and updated firefox and replace with the tarball from mozilla directly.

If you right click on the thing you can open Synaptic. In there you CAN tell what to upgrade and what not.
Also if you right click on the thing you can open MX Package Installer. In there you CAN tell what to upgrade and what not.
You can also read the manual, which is very helpful in learning about this stuff.

Re: firefox bs
Are you sure with profiles.json?
I use policies.json with firefox directly from mozilla, -> firefox/distribution/policies.json (create, if not exist)
https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templ ... /README.md
Code: Select all
{
"policies": {
"DisableAppUpdate": true,
}
}

Sure. No doubt you have all the time time in the world to learn all the nuances of this and that, but I work 60 hours a week. I ve little time to rtfm. I m sort of like a plug n play end user. I can barely write a script let alone program, so Im left to the whims of the jokers who are. Besides, I can come here and get answers from nice folks like you
