Looking for a good working "todo list" program ..

#1 Post by KernSpy »

Hi all,

Looking for a good working "todo list" program. Presently eyeing up - Task Coach. Free and opensource.
What program do you use and why do you like it?

Task Coach is a simple open source todo manager to keep track of personal tasks and todo lists. It is designed for composite tasks, and also offers effort tracking, categories, notes and more. Task Coach is actively developed. New features are added on a regular basis. https://www.taskcoach.org/download_for_linux.html

There is a DEB package along with many others .. including Arch.

Edit: Update - Forgot to mention - This is for my laptop (linux) PC and not for a phone. I do have cell-phones, but don't use them much at all.

Thanks!

K...

I use Simplenote because it offers cloud sync, which may or may not be a desired feature. It's simple and I don't need more features.
Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.

Thanks dreamer I'll check out "Simplenote." Not sure (just yet) what I need for features.

I use KOrganizer (TDE version).

Not real sure that's what your looking for, as it does a bunch more than to-do lists, but here's the repo, instructions, etc.

https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/MX_Linu ... structions

Normal install instructions, add the repository file, then:

Code: Select all

apt-get update
apt-get install korganizer-trinity
If you're already a KDE5 user, their version is possibly already installed?

Best,
Michael

Two that I did like were topydo and taskwarrior.

https://github.com/bram85/topydo

https://taskwarrior.org/

I usually now just take things down in a note. I wrote one, since I couldn't find the right one for me. I integrated it with fzf and just called it sn for (Simple Note). Here is that script if your interesting in it.

Thank You Mike .. Will definitely put it on my list. No, I'm using xfce, mx-19.2 pp.

gimcrack .. Thanks I'll add those to my test list.
The script (sn) idea is very interesting. I got sn and I'll change it so it calls a different editor, or I'll try out micro.

Thank You!

Ran across this looking though the Pale Moon browser addons, figured I'd add it to the list...

There is a freeware version of a rather excellent PIM that in the freeware form does Tasks which would probably suit you if you were running Windows. Unfortunately, the software is not compatible with Linux. Still, if you perhaps dual boot you might be interested?
