Suggest this: When you hand over MX Linux to someone, just add one little step: Explain/show them those emergency tools, includuding re-run reconfigure of grub. If a user never had seen those tools, they certainly have no idea what todo. And they may be thankful to get self-empowered.
That's a good idea. But many units don't have optical drives these days, and I'm not going to spring for a usb stick for each machine. I probably will ask them to supply one from now on. It's good that people increase their skills and ability to deal with problems, but there is always going to be a large segment of the population that has no interest, aptitude, or time to do so. MS made a fortune catering to those people by making decisions for them, but took it too far, into the realm of self-serving control and manipulation. I would like to see Linux be more accessible to that crowd, without, of course, going anywhere near MS behavior.
