I would be very cautious about updating to the newest Plasma version, even if you could. In Kubuntu I have this wallpaper bug and in Manjaro KDE my system area more or less disappeared with the latest update.

Yep, I've been reading a fair number of posts about Plasma issues after the latest Manjaro updates.

I stick to XFCE in Manjaro for low maintenance.

Only a short update on the current status of my KDE/Plasma package for Debian sid and testing:Frameworks 5.72;plasma 5.19.4;Apps 20.04.3;Digikam 7.0.0;Ark CVE-2020-16116 fixed in version 20.04.3-1~np2 and use opensuse repositories.

nope.

at the moment, due to the way Qt is supported in the debian repo, we are stuck with what we got.
Since KDE Neon has a backported Qt 5.14 and plasma 5.18 on an Ubuntu 18.04 base, never say never. But it will take a lot of work to see if a port is even possible.

I had this situation in the beta 1 and also now in the beta 2 but it is also happening to me in XFCE I don't know if this has something to do with the updates of 3 weeks ago. Whenever I open Firefox it asks me to set it as default and I have it. I haven't modified it from the default ISO.

I have Kubuntu 20.04 installed. I want to replace it with MX KDE Beta, and keep my home directory.
1 Is this tantamount to suicide?
2 Will Chrome remember me and my logins?

I would wait if I were you, shmu26, until after the official release of MX-KDE. Otherwise you will have to (re)install it again anyway as the beta version won't be supported after the release if you ever have any problems with it. I have a feeling that MX-KDE's release is going to be announced pretty soon now, because I see that a forum for it has already been created and I remember that richb said he wasn't going to do that until it was ready to be released. But that's just a guess on my part.

One of the devs said a few posts back there may be an RC version before the release.

If that's the case and if they do it like they did with MX-19.2 those who have installed the RC will be auto-upgraded to the final release version via the daily updates without having to reinstall once MX-KDE is actually officially released.
