MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
'Keyboard Layouts' takes a long time (about a minute) to save settings, is this normal?
Also, the name 'Keyboard Layouts' can be confusing as Plasma also has keyboard settings (for user, not root), so I would call it 'System keyboard', like in MX Xfce. (edit: but then the Plasma settings are called 'System settings' so I don't know what's best here)

Beta 2 functioning normally except for this incident. How can I fix it?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

@ Gerson: try right-click on 'Escritorio' in Dolphin in the left menu and edit location to '/home/ghermain/Escritorio'
Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
Thank you very much, that's the solution, it's already been corrected.tony37 wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 8:23 am @ Gerson: try right-click on 'Escritorio' in Dolphin in the left menu and edit location to '/home/ghermain/Escritorio'

Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
Unless I missed something, there is no way to open djvu files in the default install. So I'd consider installing okular-extra-backends, which also allows okular to read epub files. Otherwise it's weird to have djvulibre-bin and libdjvulibre21 installed, but not being able to actually open a file.
a few small issues:
- text files are opened with Kwrite, but Kate is in the menu favorites
- in the settings, Kmail is the standard mail program, but it's not installed (but I see this bug is also present in Manjaro KDE)
a few default settings I don't like in Plasma, maybe just personal preference, but maybe you'll agree:
- when logging out/shutting down/rebooting, the default setting is to wait 30 seconds, unless you confirm yet again you want to log out/etc.; I think most users are used to actually have a reboot when they click on reboot
- the clipboard is set by default to include any kind of selection, so also when I just highlight some text, I don't find this useful at all
And then a few remarks about Dolphin: the root actions in the context menu are well done, even better than in Manjaro because there opening Dolphin in root mode is not so easy. But there are really a ton of options to compress a file, with both 'KEC: compress' and 'Compress' (by Ark), which seems like overlap, so I'd consider disabling one of the two. I would also consider adding 'Terminal' to the Dolphin toolbar, of course anyone can do this him/herself but I think this embedded terminal is very very helpful, so doesn't hurt to highlight it imo.

Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
I think thunderbird should be set as default mail client since Kmail is not install in the Beta version. Also in Okular the odt backend should be installed by default as many files today are .odt files.
Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
My naive idea would be that there is LibreOffice for those. Plus: when I try to install okular-backend-odt, it needs 7 dependencies, 56,8 MiB needed to install. I don't think it's an option to add this to the iso.kc1di wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 9:37 am Also in Okular the odt backend should be installed by default as many files today are .odt files.
Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
On most distributions with KDE, Kmail comes as default even if it is not installed. Then when it generates Thunderbird the default mail doesn't take as long as you tell it to.kc1di wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 9:37 am I think thunderbird should be set as default mail client since Kmail is not install in the Beta version. It also happens with Firefox that every time I open it it tells me that it is not the default browser although it checks if it is.

Re: MX-19.2 KDE Beta 2 Feedback Thread
Remarkable thing is: I can open .odt files with Okular without the okular-backend-odt package, even without okular-extra-backends. Doesn't work with .doc or .docx files though, so okular-backend-odt should rather be called okular-backend-doc.tony37 wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 10:10 amMy naive idea would be that there is LibreOffice for those.
