MX Fluxbox Screenshots
Re: MX Fluxbox Screenshots
Very handsome! One of the main attractions of MXFB for me is that the user has nearly complete control.

AMEN Jerry !!One of the main attractions of MXFB for me is that the user has nearly complete control.
MXFB is the best user interface I've ever used, I personally have no need for MX XFCE anymore.
Can MXFB replace MX 100% or is FB set up so that it must have XFCE in the background ?
The MXFB team has puts lots of development effort into FB, IMHO this team should consider copyrighting MXFB so that big, for-profit corporations can`t snatch it away under the guise of it being in the 'public domain'
Re: MX Fluxbox Screenshots
MXFB needs Xfce beneath it, with which it is "completely integrated"

Re: MX Fluxbox Screenshots
Hmmmm... MXFB may well need Xfce beneath it - but it is definitely possible to remove Xfce, including most of its components and applications. I have done so - if only to see how 'lean & mean' MX-fluxbox could get.
Replaced Thunar for Xfe, xfce4-terminal for roxTerm, xfce4-screenshooter for antiX-screenshot, xfce4-appfinder for fbmenugen, and xfce4-notify for dunst, just to name a few. With it, most of Xfce's core components could be removed. I kept some specific Xfce core components installed, like exo-utils, which automatically draw in a number of xfce4 dependencies, such as libxfce4util,libxfce4ui, xfconf and related libs. Most of the MX-tools can still be used (only MX-Tweak is really skinny now,,,).
Ultimately I ended up with fluxbox running as default/single session. Right now, the system (with 1-2 scripted conky's running) idles at approx 240-250 mb at bootup, Not bad for an amd64 system with 6gb ram...
Still, I must agree with Jerry that MXFB in its released form needs Xfce as its solid base. MXFB's jewel shines because of the Xfce integration. And I would certainly advise NOT to start hacking away, as you may easily end up with a broken system...

my July screenshot.
Am running an mx-dock from startup for the first time :)
It does consume an additional ~30mb.... (but hey, the system can handle that)
note the customized icons - and the non-default background/border colors (using #151515 color) of the dock.

Great treatment of the dock, glad to see you using it. And what a nice "Exit" icon...

Wow, that's really good looking. You could put that up against any major bloated desktop for good looks.ceeslans wrote: Sat Jul 04, 2020 12:26 pm my July screenshot.
