Oh yea, it didn't occur to me since it was a question about the forum and not how to use MX!

Re: How do I mark something "solved."
There actually is a "solved" button extension for phpBB for use on support forums that adds a button at the right of the edit, report and quote buttons to mark topics solved, and it can optionally also automatically lock them. Problem is, that SOLVED status isn't displayed in the list of recent posts at the top like it is if the original poster edits the subject of his or her first post.dolphin_oracle wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:27 pmActually no, ER was serious. Editing the first post's title is how we ask folks to mark as solved. As you note, our forum software doesn't have a toggle for "solved".mikech wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:24 pm![]()

That's a very funny response!
OK I get it. Marking a thread solved is not an expectation on this forum and there is no easy way to do it. So I won't in the future.
On other forums it is a button that you select. That way the toggle is consistent no matter who's doing it. This is useful for gathering statistics and data.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!

A bit ahead of you. I found that extension early this morning and currently testing it on our test forum. It works OK. I will work with peregrine to get it installed. One caveat it does not work on Categories only Forums under a Category. So posts in the Category section will not have that feature.
We had one on an earlier phpBB software version but had to remove it as it failed to work on later phpBB versions. This one does work. Your comment re the recent posts block is noted.

Re: [SOLVED]How do I mark something "solved."
The reason it doesn't work in the Top Five extension (which shows the most recent posts at the top of the forum; ours is set to actually show eight) is that the Topic Solved extension adds a database field to store the solved status and Top Five of course doesn't display that "custom" field. I posted in phpBB's forum in March asking if Top Five could be modified to do so but haven't received any replies. The problem with that is that people will see new posts for help requests and not know that they've already been solved until they click on them to read the topics. Someone with good php-fu would have to modify Top Five to add that topic-solved field in the topic table row to what gets fetched and displayed.

It would be nice to have that but not a show stopper.JayM wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2020 10:39 pm The reason it doesn't work in the Top Five extension (which shows the most recent posts at the top of the forum; ours is set to actually show eight) is that the Topic Solved extension adds a database field to store the solved status and Top Five of course doesn't display that "custom" field.
