same program.

not all the files in autostart ....autostart things. some of them disable autostarting and enabled some of our custom scripts. the blueman was for instance only autostarts if a bluetooth adapter is found

As d_o notes some of those actually disable autostarting, use this to check:

Code: Select all

grep -R Hidden ~/.config/autostart
If the Hidden statement is true then the .desktop file disables autostarting.

The "Session and Startup" GUI in the Xfce settings panel might be a better way of managing such things at the user level.

Now I have a client that wants a group to meet using that. I installed the deb that MX offered, seemed OK. Questions:

--do you need to use Firefox? or Chrome?

--did you use system audio or phone in?

--is video used on my end (don't have a cam on my desktop)?

I've never done a teams conference call, but i imagine you can get by without a camera.

I think the audio will be on PC. Looking at my teams client on my windows PC at work and it has audio and video call options.

I don't think a browser is required at all. on my windows PC the client software handles everything.

Thanks. I'll try it without a browser, then.

Richb and I recently tried Zoom, had a good laugh when the audio goofed up, but after selecting all the right sources it worked out very well.

So well that I actually managed to turn his light off using Alexa when she failed to listen to his command

You can use the browser client if you want, but don't have to, it does the same as the Desktop client.
I would try Chrome if you do.

You can use either. If you call in, your number will show up and your connection via the client will show up.
I usually call in with my phone so I can multitask on the PC easier.

You don't have to use video, if you don't it will just show a place holder image.

In Linux, if you use browser instead of the dedicated package, I'm not sure you can share documents/opened windows

MS has a list of browsers that work or don't work with certain things. Like the older Edge (non-chrome based) doesn't work with things like screen sharing.

But the same can be for the client, if an organization is paying for or not restricting certain things. I've done Team meetings using the browser and client when signed in under my employer's account for a meeting with another organization and was restricted from doing things I can normally do.
