sure thing.Well that's not very Christian...
I'm pretty sure Jesus would have used the GPL :-)

I'm becoming increasingly wary of closed source projects when it comes to software I depend upon. Bible software in particular. I saw recently that Bible Gateway now defaults to a mess that is difficult to search and has a screen filled with junk you need a subscription to use. I by accident came across an option to use "Bible Gateway Classic" which gives me the old usable web site.
Recently I've been using Xiphos more and am liking it better all the time. Sorry to see the ESV Bible disappearing from these projects as a free add-on. I'm using the KJV Bible more anyway.
I don't think I'll be paying for closed source software going forward.

One nice thing about the newer version of BibleGateway is that the javascript on the site is friendlier now and I don't have to weaken my security settings to use it.KBD wrote: Mon Jul 06, 2020 4:11 pm I'm becoming increasingly wary of closed source projects when it comes to software I depend upon. Just came across this as to why the ESV Bible has disappeared as a Sword Module:

Glad the KJV doesn't have copyright issues, at least not on our side of the pond :)

Agreed, my church uses ESV and I prefer the NKJV, neither of which seem to be available right now through Sword due to copyright issues (I assume), so BibleGateway is an important resource for me.KBD wrote: Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:09 pmThat's good to hear.

Here is another online alternative:
https://www.biblica.com/bible/
You can change version using a little box on the right side of the page.

The KJV is also available for download on Project Gutenberg as are many commentary and Bible study books: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/30
