MX 19 Repository: The Nomacs Thread.

#1 Post by Stevo »

Nomacs is the default image viewer and printer we ship with MX Linux. The develpers haven't been very active for a couple of years, sticking with version 3.12, but released version 3.14 a few days ago, and we added it to the main repository.

This is a bugfix release with one nice new feature: heif image support, which is the default image format on newer iPhones, and based on HEVC compression.

Would it be possible to get the latest 'nomacs' version 3.14 added to the MX 18.3 repo?

https://nomacs.org/download/
https://github.com/nomacs/nomacs

Incidently, the version 3.12 which is still in Test seems to work well with MX 18.3. I believe the package default was 3.8.

Did not checked lastly but since yesterday when I try to open an image file with nomacs, it brings up and empty window. I removed version 3.14 and reinstalled version 3.12. The same problem. This problem does not happen on my Sparky Linux.

Has any one experienced the same issue ? Can someone investigate the problem and posts feedback here?

Thnx in advance.

Yes. That's why I removed Nomacs and installed Mirage.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.
