xfce-4.14.2 updates from MX 19 test repo (now in main)

#1 Post by Stevo »

This can be easily done in MXPI from the test repo tab by unchecking the box to hide library packages, and then searching for "xfce", and marking all upgradeable packages.

The whiskermenu and thunar updates don't have to be updated along with the rest, but I'd like to push them to main along with the rest, if possible, so please test those, too.

Is there a change log? I assume these are minor bugfixes and tweaks.
Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.

I think you have to go back to XFCE's source pages to get those. I got most of these from upstream Debian, and they just list Debian packaging-related things like:

Code: Select all

exo (0.12.11-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Unit 193 ]
  * d/watch: Update for upstream's move to mirrorbit.

  [ Yves-Alexis Perez ]
  * d/control: update standards version to 4.4.1
  * New upstream version 0.12.11
  * d/control: update dh compat level to 12
  * d/control: bump gtk3 b-dep to 3.22

 -- Yves-Alexis Perez <corsac@debian.org>  Mon, 30 Dec 2019 17:13:55 +0100
Since I jumped ahead of Debian for whiskermenu, and our devs take a special interest in that package, I did make a little extra effort to list the changes since 2.3.5 in my debian/changelog:

Code: Select all

2.4.2
=====
- Fix crash when selecting desktop action. (bug #16445)
- Translation updates: Chinese (China), Croatian, Georgian.

2.4.1
=====
- Fix narrow iconview columns.
- Fix bad hyphenation by increasing iconview column width.
- Translation updates: Finnish, Serbian.

2.4.0
=====
- Add option to show as icons. (bug #15675)
- Add hiding menu items. (bug #14816)
- Add searching keywords of menu items. (bug #15047)
- Add tooltip to profile picture for editing profile. (bug #15501)
- Adjust wording of switch user command. (bug #15398)
- Add icons to context menu.
- New default layout.
- Make panel button square only if single row and title hidden.
- Rearrange settings dialog.
- Redesign session confirmation dialogs.
- Refactor code.
- Rewrite menu load to match GarconGtkMenu.
- Switch categories with keyboard focus if hover enabled.
- Use custom icon renderer.
- Use link time optimization if available.
- Increase C++ version.
- Translation updates: Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Taiwan), Czech,
  Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, Galician, Georgian, German, Greek,
  Icelandic, Indonesian, Interlingue, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian,
  Malay, Nepali, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese,
  Portuguese (Brazil), Slovak, Spanish, Turkish.

Thanks for your info.

MX-19.1 has just been released and looks really sharp. Give people a few days to play with it. Then when they know the system a little bit better they might try packages from test. I have too little experience with MX 19 and Xfce 4.14 to identify specific behavior, but that will change.

It looks like updates aren't critical, more like fit and finish.
Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.

The updates don't appear to have made it to that French mirror yet: http://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/linux/distributi ... ol/test/x/

as compared to this one: http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/pool/test/x/
