Add LibreOffice 6.3 x386(32 bits) DEB to MX Linux Repo from Escuelas Linux build

#1 Post by wachin »

Escuelas Linux have compiled LibreOffice 6.3 for 32 bits DEB, they send my the deb files and I install it on antiX 9 x386 (32 bits). Because MX Linux are member of antiX I have this request

DOWNLOAD DEBS:

https://github.com/wachin/LibreOffice-6.3-32bits-DEB

or clone

If you don't have installed git install it:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install git
then clone the repository:

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/wachin/LibreOffice-6.3-32bits-DEB
See in action:

I install https://www.zotero.org/ citation manager and working fine:

The only thing is the icons for LibreOffice Writer, Calc, Impress, Math, Draw not working in default IceWM, or Fluxbox Task Bar:

I told the antix people to solve it (with Escuelas Linux team we try to solve but can't)

Perhaps in MX Linux working fine the icons, if yes add to the MX Repositories

Interesting.
Is there a way to downtown the deb without having to sign up?

Assuming you mean antiX 19 instead of antiX 9, can you tell us why their 6.3.2 version is better than the 6.3.4 that's currently easily installable from buster-backports, or an AppImage?

Escuelas Linux is also an Ubuntu distribution, which sets my FrankenDebian-sense tingling quite fiercely.

Also, is the OP asking for the package to be built for MX or for antiX?

There may be differences between antiX and MX due to antiX being completely no-systemd, although this is just me raising a possibility, not a fact/

I go to follow the next instructions:

Code: Select all

echo "deb http://deb.debian.org/debian buster-backports main contrib non-free" |
sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/buster-backports.list
then update repo:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
Then install

Code: Select all

sudo apt install libreoffice -t buster-backports
Perhaps all working fine, next time I said to you what happen

Well, here's yet another user that didn't read our fine user manual to learn how to do that with MX package installer. :frown:

Please learn a bit about MX Linux before making suggestions that may not be necessary at all.

Ubuntu is not Debian and thus is not MX.

When you initially tried to install from the Ubuntu based deb file, did the installation result in the removal of any packages or show error messages ?

You may have added an instability to your system.
