Debian To Seek A General Resolution Over Their Init System Policy

#1 Post by dreamer »

A decision has to be made. Systemd-only (which I assume will make life harder for antiX/MX Linux) or maintaining compatibility with different init systems.

Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.

thanks for the additional material. i am not taking sides. i used systemd stuff i guess since i started inux and mx is the first time i am not and i have no issues. i also trust what the devs do and what they end up coming up with re: the modality of which direction or directions they end up taking.

... For me , systemd is and becomes a big "all-inside.Appimage" ;-)
... Why not, but not only (for the diversity)

probably - just a newer link to a newer relevant article - feel free to delete the thread. no problem.

I won't be surprised if the next Debian Stable release is systemd only.
I think the writing was on the wall once Fedora and Gnome jumped on that ship.
