I don't get it: why not install ceni if it works? When I travel with antiX I always have ceni as the backup.

ceni is dead, can't handle the new device naming scheme.

I guess if you still have eth0, wlan0 etc. it should be ok.

what I have a problem with is I don't have physical access to a wired Ethernet connection--just wifi, so I can't get ceni! Much less install it. I need it on the live iso--instead of connman. the current live antiX19 iso does not contain either ceni or wicd--just connman. Which royally sucks.

The real issue is not whether antiX-19 full/base ships with ceni and/or wicd, but that connman isn't working for you when it should be.
How about starting a thread on that? Give details of what you have done.

I can boot from USB Stick, but can not install to this system - Have turned off secureboot and it appears I am running in UEFI mode, but can't install in UEFI mode.

I can add the live media (USB stick) and boot the hard drive install and not the live mode. Without the flash stick have no way to boot the installed version.
I do not know if i have a UEFI version running or bios version grub install option was to install to root.

This can happen if you don't set the time correctly on the system (live or not). The system thinks the updates are in the future. Unfortunately, due to a horrendous bug in the kernel we leave ntpd disabled on the live system so you need to set the time manually. Or you could try again in 5 hours.

If you didn't install grub to mbr and only installed to root, there's nothing being found there by the system for booting.

Your set up looks to be legacy mbr boot. The fat32 partition isn't flagged as esp, after all.

You might be able to run mx boot repair from live mx USB, and write the grub found on root partition (sda2) onto the mbr of /dev/sda. (no number after "sda")

I can't tell for sure from the inxi -F output if you booted UEFI (others might be able to). If this command succeeds and shows files then you have booted UEFI:

ls /sys/firmware/efi

If you did not boot UEFI, that would explain why you can't install UEFI. If you did boot UEFI then one of the installer devs can try to help you with installing UEFI.
