In its settings, Clipit has key shortcut presets, such as ctrl alt H for history, ctrl alt A for actions, but pressing the keys does not appear to work.
Apart from working, I would want the hotkeys to do the screenshots - of the whole screen or of selected part of the screen.
How to achieve that? I suppose this should be doable via onboard keyboard app, with clipit plus something in the command?
Ideally, ditto functionality would be recreated with for
whole screen screenshot
region screenshot
history manager and cursor in search field
This makes taking notes during online courses much easier.
Any ideas?

Clipit's just a clipboard manager. there's a separate utility for doing screenshots, called "screenshot." I don't know if it has hotkeys or not though. There are other clipboard managers and screen capture utilities in the repository that you can try though.

It is very simple to add new keybindings (short-cuts) in xfce (assuming that is your DE). Simply open the keyboard tool and edit Application short-cuts. Here's one way to do that:

Re: ClipIt or its better alternative respond to key shortcuts
Sorry, I confused two types of tools, as noted.
Screenshot
The 'Print Screen' key is the one that starts Screenshot. Ideally, if it could accept presetting, namely, always a region and always into clipboard (with no confirmation with Enter required), that would replace the Onenote functionality lacking from PX3 Onenote functionality.
CopyQ does this.
Clipboard manager
Image handling and hotkey to show main window.
Edit
CopyQ does both.
All sorted!! Many thanks Everyone.
