for some reason the Direct Download from Sourceforge - fails NoFileFound ? ?

so, used the Torrent, instead - - worked well, downloaded in less than an Hr. ..50 seeders !.

installed into an VirtualBox - - all good.
& fell for the usual video_size_issue
& & tried to 'fix that' with Guest Additions .. . pointless, as that's not needed, anyway.
- - and GA is tricky to install, as it always needs Root permission.

finally - - started thinking - - adjust the small_screen_size in Display Properties
- - suddenly, it's Full Screen funny that

it's an Nice Release - - isn't it ?.

If you install VB from MXPI popular apps tab, everything you need is installed. No need to fix the size with GA iso.

In the Display settings of your VM, make sure Graphics COntroller is set to VBoxSVGA (the bottommost entry in the dropdown menu). That should get you easy resizing just by resizing your VM window.

I just started with systemd (to try the suspend) and suspended with systemctl suspend. Everything's fine there. Tried several times.

So I think the "black screen with mouse pointer after suspend" issue is either related to a tiny missing point in SystemV or the default command "xfce4-session-logout ... " (or the co-relation bw. them).

P.S. s2ram and pm-suspend both work already perfectly on SystemV (but without locking the screen).
On the other hand, systemctl suspend works just as it should: Suspends immediately, you wake it up, type password and hit Enter. That's it.

Edit: I've installed SysVinit 2.96 and it's much better. That happened only once. Tried with no windows and with several windows open (Firefox etc.).

Also the message at top during init, that said "SELINUX blah blah /etc/.. /... " disappeared with this version.

(In fact I've already been using 2.96 since the day it was released on 18.3 with no issues).

One more clue: Last time it happened (just a few minutes ago): no suspend, just after screen lock. So it may be related to "light-locker" . (This time the question is why doesn't it happen with systemd.. same light-locker ..? )

I can do either Ctrl Alt Backspace , or
Ctrl Alt F1 and loginname, password, startx
(Ctrl Alt F7 after ...F1 doesn't work).

VirtualBox isn't covered in detail in the MX manual. They have their own manual, which is linked to in ours:

Just installed MX-19. Install was easy-peasy. I like the default wallpaper.
This system has a 43" 4K TV as its monitor with a Nvidia GTX970. This takes a bit of tweaking to get right. The new display scaling setting makes everything too big at 2x and too small at 1x (I managed to get MX-18 looking really good with selecting themes and setting font DPI plus a couple of things I've forgotten). Will need to tweak somehow to get bigger grab handles on windows, that's hard currently. So WIP as far as that goes. Will also install Nvidia drivers as that is usually better on this setup than nouveau.
Audio setup was easy, just had to use MX Select Sound to pick the right sound card. Internet is wired so easy but I had to select a closer repo to install packages without lag.
That's as far as I've used it so far. Definitely good! :)

If I have Firefox open maximized and open MXPI (windowed) then click back on the Firefox window button in the panel, MXPI stays in the foreground as though it isn't releasing focus. If I minimize MXPI, then I can switch back and forth between them via their window buttons. It doesn't always happen, but does so often, maybe one time out of ten. I seem to recall it happening before I installed the Nvidia driver too, but I'm not 100% positive about that.

I think I fixed this. I didn't have "Automatically raise windows when they receive focus" selected on the window manager's focus tab, so Firefox wasn't raising above MXPI when I clicked on Firefox's window button to switch to it. I'll have to test some more to make sure as it seemed to happen intermittently but I think this should correct it.
