How can I fix it?

Did you set up a Profile in Display > Advanced? If not, give that a try (read the Help if not clear how to do that).

Isn't there a "Configure new screens automatically" or some setting like that that you can disable? (just guessing)

Please explain the name "patito feo".... .

Patito is actually miss-spelled "potato", and feo is miss spelled "foe"

It was ment to be a potato which is not very friendly, but some glitch has happened and now we are stuck with Patito feo :(

Debian Buster and all upstream packages for usbutils no longer include the user mode tool to manually download the latest daily snapshots of USB device vendors.

I used to run both update-usbids and update-pciids before creating a snapshot to ensure it was made with the most up to date databases for each type. The update-usbids will be sorely missed

A quick search led me to: [UNSOLVABLE] How to update the USB ids file? (Arch) which links to: usbutils usb.ids update, adding a missed script [...] (Redhat). So it seems distros are dropping this for a reason. I'm not saying it's a good reason but I suggest we do some research before rolling our own (which was my first inclination).

I guess this is an Xfce thing, the show desktop icon shows the desktop, yes, but upon pressing again doesn't restore things to the way they were. IIRC that used to be the case.

Ah well.

Hmm.. to add.. seems only the first time it doesn't play along, after that it's ok.


Another add.. removed the icon from the panel.. rebooted and re-added it. Now it seems to be playing from the getgo.

I just opened the downloaded libpng12-0 deb, and it contains a link to itself --- i.e. it tries to install a link called libpng12.so.0, who target is exactly the same as the file name. I tried creating a link called libpng12.so.0 to libpng16.so.16, but my program SP Flash Tool wasn't fooled. Is there some way of providing libpng12.so.0 to programs that insist on it?

Belt and Braces solution (for now):

I copied two files over from my PCLinuxOS lib64 files:

libpng12.so.0 and libpng12.so.0.59.0, the former being a symlink to the latter, and now SP_Flash_Tool runs just fine.
