You give up easy. What does top say?
There is nothing to say support here on the forum for us beginners is very weak. I don't know how to solve problem and not get the right help

But where did you ask for help? I never saw in topics such as Help, Installation etc. nor in previous pages on this thread. How can someone know without describing & posting system info? If you like you can post QSI as in my signature below.

Edit: Ok, I've found it here: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 20#p534808

But if you like, open a new thread.. You can also go on with 18.3 as you said , till it's solved technically..

Edit 2: As asqwerth stated, the difference looks like this: For Device-2: AMD Granville [Radeon HD 6850M/6870M] :

On your MX 18 which works normal: driver: ati, modesetting, radeon
And on MX 19: driver: modesetting

well to Fehlix and other devs - i downloaded the 32 bit 19rc1 the other day and burned this am for my old macbook white plastic in the shed/workshop. running debian 9 lxde due to only thing that botted other than live and install took days. also wanted to see what debian was about. well - i installed 19rc1 just now and installed no problems at all and fast for the less than 1gb ram on that old thing. need to tweak and delete some apps/packages and add others but install was smooth though a bit different setup originally. and to fehlix - did not need any script you send me - so it worked - all updated too.

so all laptops running mx19! thanks devs! most impressed!

I just tried adding some .png files that I used in MX 18 to /usr/share/backgrounds and to /usr/share/icons and can not select them to use as backgrounds or icons.

Could be permissions issue. Did you copy them from another user account/folder? Another partition?

Windows wireless drivers and HPLIP Toolbox (that one I noticed before) are without icons. Cross checked on Papyrus and it's the same there.

top as was suggested, or htop, will list applications consuming CPU in percentage. It would help find what the issue is.
How to ask for help is advised giving you the best chance to solve your issue:

I"m surprised the icon we created for windows wireless drivers also did not appear (see your screenshot). It should appear if your icon theme does not have a corresponding icon.
