ok an observation: i believe someone may have mentioned this before and maybe on the beta threads. the icons in the panel - all are clean and you see the icons with the black background. the clock module on 3 different laptops have a gray backgroundsquare that sticks out from all of the rest. i can live with and not a glitch that i know since the clock works but it is not like all of the others in the panel - they are icons with a solid black panel and the clock has the block of gray behind/around the icon. again - not a complaint.

I would like to see the output of

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade
https://youtu.be/prwRQ3UMPlo
well that's weird.

how about

Code: Select all

sudo apt install mx-apps chroot-rescue-mx
This fixed it. Thank you, much appreciated

https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 54#p534254

referring post number 136

i resolved this issue by 1. disabling xhci hand off in bios and 2. enabling 64h/60h setting in bios.

no more freezing.

This is configurable; right-click the clock, select 'Properties', tick 'Set background colour', click the colour swatch, then use the eye-dropper tool to select the panel (or elsewhere) to make the clock background to be what you want.

I'm still seeing the updater message mentioned up-thread:

Code: Select all

The following packages have been kept back:
     mx-apps (19.09.01 => 19.10.02)
with today's new updates.

Same. Of course I can use Synaptic to get the update going, as I'd explained in an earlier post. But the question is how come neither sudo apt-get dist-upgrade or apt full-upgrade in the terminal will proceed with the update?

I thought the point of those 2 commands (and why they are different from plain apt-get upgrade or apt upgrade) was that they would proceed with the update even where existing packages were removed and new packages installed in the course of applying the update.

It just doesn't work.
The keys on the keyboard do not respond, so brightess not working.
It's always the same level of lighting.
