After having technical problems with my machine and now /home is rebuilt, I am able to evaluate this release. Re-installed the base, installed gnome + kde apps, and removed few apps not using. Without saying, works well with fast and snappy respond. Did a change, to have a bit more "classic" login manager for Gnome. :) Replaced Slim with lightdm + new wallpaper.

In antiX19-base, StatCounter web hit number does not work in web browser (Chromium, Firefox, etc.). In core the number is visible. There is a config or package difference between base and core.

Since core does not have an X server why should it have fonts for X? It seems reasonable that if someone wants to install a X server then they should also install fonts for it. Am I missing something?

With core, after installing large number of software (xorg, Gnome, Libreoffice, Scribus, Dolphin, Gimp, etc.), which add many type of fonts, it will be difficult to realise that there is a missing font package (causing character error). Didn't expect Dejavu, which supposed to be auto installed by other graphic packages. Or, why should a system be depend on Dejavu when xorg is installed??

This is a problem when you build your system from scratch (or from core). IMO weighing down core with X fonts is not a good solution to this problem. Perhaps we can have something in the package installer that makes it easy to remember and install the Dejavu fonts or perhaps we could bundle them in when the X server is installed.

Oh. We should probably add this to our command line package installer, cli-aptiX. Have you tried it? It has a list of suggested GUI packages but the X server is not on that list. Perhaps we can come up with a set of packages for installing an X server and associated packages like the dejavu fonts.

You could even play with this yourself by editing the file /usr/local/share/cli-aptiX/suggested/gui.list. The format should be fairly clear. Maybe add an "X Server" category. If you come up with a better gui.list, I'd be glad to use it. Currently we don't have a "meta"package mechanism now so non-comment line in the file corresponds to just one package. I could probably come up with a meta mechanism if it would be really useful. We could also add another list like x-server.list for installing an x-server and related packages.

Don't forget that mx and antix do not pull in "reccommends" by defualt when using apt tools.

Using --install-recommends switch with apt will do the behavior that debian defaults too, and bring in a lot of things like fonts and extra packages that whike nice are really required for apps to run

The house I am living in has a very good wifi box hooked up to Hughes satellite dish. It is set up with a ssid name, and NO ENCRYPTION, because the house is 15 miles from the nearest town, and therefore is not needed. MX-19, and every other distro I've tried it with finds it and connects with alacrity. AntiX 18.4.1 works great with it using ceni.
AntiX 19's connman is f*****g worthless, useless as tits on a boar hog. I have tried everything, including trying to set it up from the command line (connmanctl). The gui accepts the ssid (DarkCloud2 to be exact) but essentially demands a passphrase, which is nonexistent. I am truly sorry, but divestiture of ceni and wicd are deal breakers. Breaks my heart, and pisses me off at the same time.
