Bluetooth Mouse laggy on MX19 B3
Bluetooth Mouse laggy on MX19 B3
Hi there,
I was a previous user of MX18 and have a Bluetooth mouse. I never noticed it on 18 but on 19B3 my mouse is noticeably laggy and not nice to use. Using my trackpad all is fine. I am running MX on an old 2011 Macbook Air and everything else looks to run great. Anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot Bluetooth mice?
Cheers

Re: Bluetooth Mouse laggy on MX19 B3
Welcome to the forum. As MX-19 beta 3 isn't a supported release but was for beta testing only, and as it's already been superseded by the first release candidate, I would welcome you to either install the latest official version of MX which is 18.3 or wait until MX-19 is actually released which appears to be soon. Of course you could install MX-19RC1 and help with its testing but bear in mind that it's a release candidate not an official release so there may still be a few bugs, that the packaging team are still working hard on the MX-19 repositories and some things you want might not be there yet, and that there's a dedicated feedback topic for 19RC1 already, found at https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 94#p533594.

Re: Bluetooth Mouse laggy on MX19 B3
I would actually like it if you tried RC1, see if the issue is there as well. When it is, please post about it in the feedback thread here: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=53330

Re: Bluetooth Mouse laggy on MX19 B3
If you right-click on the blueman applet in your panel and select devices, if your mouse is shown there, there may be some configuration settings.
Also, if you look at plugins there may be some that you can disable such as headset, networking, PPP support, game controller wakelock and so on. You'll have to be the one to decide which ones can be safely disabled though. Disabling support for unused bluetooth items may improve mouse response.
Another idea: if the mouse is battery-powered (which it probably is) try replacing the battery with a fresh one. Maybe it's getting a bit weak and that's showing up more in MX-19: maybe it takes a bit more juice from the mouse's battery to maintain a good connection with MX-19 than with MX-18 for some reason.
Still another idea: temporarily move the mouse to the other side of your Zenbook and see if it's any better. It's possible that the bluetooth radio in the computer isn't getting as much power in MX-19 and the metal casing of the laptop is enough to partially block the signal.
(Disclaimer: I use a wireless mouse but it uses a USB dongle, not a bluetooth connection, so I can't actually test any of these things myself.)

Re: Bluetooth Mouse laggy on MX19 B3
Tried disabling most of the plugins, moving the mouse and put in new battery, all no change.
I'm not sure if it is lag or more the refresh rate is REALLY slow when used in MX 19..
Anyway for now I have switched back to using dongle.. If anyone has anything else to test, I am happy to try..
