the icon thing well could be due to the mix of gtk2 vs. gtk3 and qt icon settings. there is quite a mix in there at the moment.

It's easier to trigger tumblerd with root Thunar, because that image cache is probably almost empty. This time tumblerd monitor killed it so I guess it works the same as in MX-17/18. All in all MX-19 feels remarkably similar to MX 17/18 despite different base and new Xfce. This is a good accomplishment. I know there are a few new features too. And LightDM seems to be gone from restart/shut down.

penguin wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2019 7:30 am Thanks guys. I good point. Let's wait for MX 19.1, but also support till 2022, is a very good deal. At least, they are my friends and not my babies :comfort: . I can help them and show the path, but I can not continue :fishing: for them all the time.
Those that have upgraded xfce 4.12 to 4.14 on MX 18 via my OBS repo, including my test installs, report that it went quite smoothly, so I don't think that will be an issue when saving /home when doing the MX 18 to MX 19 reinstall.

Maybe if you wait a bit after MX 19 is out, we'll have an MX migration app that duplicates many of the functions of aptik-gtk, which is no longer developed as freeware. For now, you can install aptik-gtk and use it to save a list of your installed packages, then reinstall it in MX 19 and use that list to reinstall those packages.
That's good and time-saving info. Is it possible to preserve /home in the installer if /home is located on the root partition?
Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.

:bagoverhead: I downloaded MX-19RC1, transferred if to a USB drive, then wasted an hour trying to install it. I found that the installation
was much better when i plugged in the correct USB drive. MX19 was still lying on the desk. Now, it works like a dream. No problems!

ok so on my x series 201 thinkpad this works great re: showing login screen after suspend. never did on 18.3 - blank black page that you had to start typing blind or else touch trackpad to get login to show that is great news! That was the only glitch i had with the 2 tp's and my wife's dell inspiron. will let you know about the x 220 series when i load it on that laster hopefully.

Ok maybe the reason was that i turned the double click off to1 MS instead of the 400 or 401 when i retweaked it. i remember that i had to shut the click after shutting down the trackpad while typing to zero so that i did not get a funky lag -so i tweaked the wrong one. all should work fine - and i apologize for anymore gray hairs to the devs.

finished installing 19 RC1 on VM couple of hours ago, it's running like a charm, all is good. I appreciate MX's team for the hard work.

i'm not sure it's really gone now or not cause im running it from VM ,but in 18.3 when i play videos on vlc in fullscreen, clicking on seek bar causes the panel to popup on the video and also causes screen flickering, which i'm not seeing it happen anymore on 19 rc1. i hope this is true.

one last minor bug that i encountered is plank's old bug (panel setting window sticks there forever). i wish plank's devs finally do something about that.

yes.

you right click the clock and select a different color.

part of the issue is the default theme has a partially transparent panel and the clock plugin doesn't do transparency very well.
