MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
MX-Snapshpot has an error in the text displaying the location of the snapshot-exclude.list
The text says it's in /usr/lib/mx-snapshot/snapshot-exclude.list
The reality is it's in /etc/mx-snapshot-exclude.list
or /usr/local/share/excludes/snapshot-exclude.list
It's gotta be one of them.
The latter location includes other config files for MX-Snapshot and the snapshot-exclude.list therein is a symlink to the former, so I believe we need to change the text to show the latter.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
thank you for the logs.
but all that doesn't explain the problem you had with installing onto existing partitions.
if you could, could you provide the following:
1. start up a live-USB.
2. run
3. run gparted and FORMAT some partitions. do not create new partition tables.
4. when done, close gparted and run this again
5. post the output of both lsblk commands.
thanks!!!

MP3GAIN ( from Stable repo) - Packages has unmet dependencies
I searched and could not find any open threads, but don't know if MP3GAIN is going to be supported anymore.
However I'll report what I've seen and done.
After receiving error for unmet dependencies I installed DEB files from Jessie which are not located in MX repos
Install
1) gcc-4.8-base_4.8.4-1_amd64
2) libasan0_4.8.4-1_amd64
Run
3) MP3GAIN from MX Package Installer Stable Repo -completed-
I also noted the GUI for MP3GAIN is no longer in the MX Repos. I found easymp3gain-data and easymp3gain-gtk in Jessie.
easymp3gain-data_0.5.0+svn135-5_all.deb
easymp3gain-gtk_0.5.0+svn135-5_amd64.deb
All this being said, I don't know if MX Devs are not going to or not able to support or if this is a work in progress. MP3 seemed
to install OK with what I ran noted above, but not a master of the command line so there you go. Thanks to the Devs and all
who help to make MX the best distro out there....I believe.

mp3gain is in the antiX repos, not the MX ones. I'll pass it along to them.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
We have 2 options.
1. remove mp3gain from antiX repos (stretch, buster and beyond), which means it is dead as a package OR
2. I make available 2 debs that are needed - libasan0 and gcc-4.8-base
Which do you prefer?

Just an observation. I noticed all the packages are still available in MX 18.3 stable repo....stretchanticapitalista wrote: Fri Oct 11, 2019 6:15 pm We have 2 options.

I was planning on keeping my business laptop running MX 18.3 for the near future, but I obviously can't
speak for a dev or even user community.
I think I recall someone from Canonical maintaining this and some other media applications, but its been a while since I
looked around. Again this is just some FYI.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
@slipperyslope - thanks.
Adding those 2 debs to antiX repos (buster -19 series) will also make them available for MX-19.
We just need to make sure they work ok.
Seems like it is ok to do so.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
All I did was install the Nvidia drivers from the stable repo using the installation tool in MX Tools. I just ran it again, reinstalled the same drivers, rebooted, and have the same behavior with vlc and guvcview.dolphin_oracle wrote: Fri Oct 11, 2019 6:35 am @JayM
looking at your quick-system-info/inxi output above, I don't think you're nvidia drivers are installed all the way.
1. What in my QSI makes you think I have only a partial Nvidia installation? It looks OK to me, I'm getting the Nvidia splash screen at boot, I have video and a GUI...
2. Does my QSI look any different or better now that I've reinstalled the Nvidia driver?
