Best would be to start your own thread so we can keep track of it. Once you have it started, Mods can move the earlier posts over to it.

I have an X1 with 19b2.1 and NUC with 19b3 and I have created:SwampRabbit wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:04 amThe MX-18 Manual recommends using Rufus, is this still the case for MX-19 USB creation under Windows?asqwerth wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 8:47 am As for why not Etcher, etc, I don't know the technical aspects, but it's probably due to how MX/antiX's live system is set up to give such expanded functionality beyond other distros' live functionality. If you want to burn an MX/antiX iso so that it works and/or you can utilise it properly and fully, you have to follow the instructions on how to burn it.
1) on X1 - downloaded and burnt with Etcher the 19b3 Base ISO - installed and polished it on NUC
2) on X1 - burnt a USB with 19b2.1 snapshot using MX usb creator
3) on NUC - burnt a USB "A" with 19b3 snapshot using MX usb creator and USB "B" with Etcher

Thanks for that, but that question was a general question to the threadbpr323 wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:21 am I have an X1 with 19b2.1 and NUC with 19b3 and I have created:

It’s rare for me to burn the ISO from Windows, but just want to make sure the MX Manual is still accurate for new users migrating.
When I do burn one from Windows, I’ve always used Etcher myself.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
No idea how to start my own "thread" here - where? which section? Could you please give me a leg-up and create a thread for me in the right place "MX19b3 Lenovo X1 bootable USB and GUI install" - please?Jerry3904 wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:16 am Best would be to start your own thread so we can keep track of it. I will post my "wrong" steps and screenshots there.

I will, but the Forum "MX Help" sounds like a pretty good place and the button there labeled "New Topic" is suggestive.

I don't have Windows at home, but here's another approach (not detailed in the Users Manual, as far as I could see) for users coming over from other Linux distros:SwampRabbit wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:30 amThanks for that, but that question was a general question to the threadbpr323 wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:21 am I have an X1 with 19b2.1 and NUC with 19b3 and I have created:

When I do burn one from Windows, I’ve always used Etcher myself.
For the MX-19 beta 3, I wrote the iso to "flash drive A" using the cp command in Debian Buster. Then booted into a live session with "flash drive A" and used MX Live USB Maker to do "flash drive B" with home persistence.
I don't normally bother with persistence for live sessions. Anyway, home persistence works correctly on "flash drive B" -- I've booted into live sessions on 3 computers here so far with both flash drives.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
Here's a little cosmetic bug in MX19
Depending on the order of "items" in panel properties it usuall the "eject" button is duplicated and goes "under" the Yad button.
Another bug is related to Thunar.
When I do "save as" the generic file name (e.g. screenshot.png) is created in the top panel of Thunar and that file name is highlighted suggesting I can start editing it, but the cursor focus is somewhere else and if I start typing the new file name (expecting iwill override the highlighted part) it starts changing the folder where I want to save it to.
Usually this happens to Yad (MX updates) icon, but here you see that VLC (now playing) icon has been duplicated and file copy icon is sitting on top of it.Depending on the order of "items" in panel properties it usuall the "eject" button is duplicated and goes "under" the Yad button.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
They are, but engage much broader topics such as Lenovo and UEFI.bpr323 wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:47 amI thought my posts were strictly related to bugs in MX-19 Beta 3 (feedback)Jerry3904 wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:38 am I will, but the Forum "MX Help" sounds like a pretty good place and the button there labeled "New Topic" is suggestive.
