Extracting Aduio or Setting Default Audio

#1 Post by MarkG »

I would like to know how I can modify a file that has an AAC audio track that on Handbrake only shows as and defaults to GERMAN to default to selecting the English track as the players default language.

All other discs have ripped to a DV in English, this box set is being a pain because English is on there as the DVD player will play in English and also selects English as its default but the AAC track has been flagged to default to German, not in English.

So I need options, how to either

Change the AAC language flag after a ripped file to DV file

Rip the English track out of an AAC file

or some other suggestion that will make the Handbrake rip in English.

I would suggest you do a web search for your Handbrake question as it's not an MX Linux-specific issue.

I have looked.

None of the results is helpful because they all assume its to do with transcoding, not altering a FILE like the MP4's that I have produced from a disck that has ENGLISH but some flag is set wrong.

IT IS NOT A QUESTION ABOUT HANDBRAKE, OK?

I am asking how to swap a flag in a MP4 File and please don't say MP4Box as I just tried installing it and the support is not present that it needs. Something to do with the ffmpeg's that I have that are current versions.

So if anyone knows a command line and a program that works, it would be much appreciated.

Try the suggestion here:
https://superuser.com/questions/639402/ ... ith-ffmpeg
The specific example given references .mkv videos but it should work for .mp4s as well.

I just tried it.

New problem.

Handbrake rips the AAC language file as flagged as default without asking.

So... I need a ripping tool.

Of those suggested, I can not locally compile, never have despite following to the letter the instructions, it always tells me that the program does not exist. the program that is meant to compile...

I need an easily installed option that is GUI.

What does Handbrake have to do with the ffmpeg instructions I linked to?

So I respond like "I have tried that" it literally means that I have already tried that what you suggested...

While it has nothing to do with Handbrake... I said I am NOT ASKING ABOUT HANDBRAKE yet people are transfixed by Handbrake.

AGAIN

NOTHING TO DO WITH HANDBRAKE AT ALL NOW.. OK?

What I need is something that is going to rip.

I am open to suggestions.

If I post... "I Tried it" then I have tried it.

For example

Kino - already on my system - pile of ********'s doesn't even open a directory, load a file or anything other than sit pretty on the desk top.
VLC - insist on playing the file, despite picking convert/save, refuses to do owt.
DVD::rip - another pile of junk that has wasted my time. It will only --mirror and nothing else.
ffmpeg - it does nothing.
acidrip - runs and shuts itself down.

and I could go on as I have tried many programs, too many to mention that I can't member until I try again.

So I need suggestions on what I can do to resolve this problem of the language issue in the Disc or the files that are now on my drive.

There has to be some way of just pulling out the English audio track in to a mp3 or mp4 or wav, if I have that, I can move forward.

I hit reply button.

IF this means each comment has its own reply button, we're going to be talking cross purposes.

I am replying to the comment I read.

I happen to mention Handbrake and people are TRANSFIXED ON IT...

This is what I just do not understand with forums as people ask for help and don'#t get it, does not do the cause for spreading the distro any good.

The last three times I asked for help here, I got the same run around, its like its some kind of sport or something.

We may as well call it a day now because I get the distinct feeling that I am having the piss taken out of me here.

Bye.
