Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
It works perfect, for now it responds with everything I ask, it goes quite fast and the packages that I ask it installs them perfect. Virtualbox has improved a lot and I'm testing the changes without any problem.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
thanks for the extra feedback. I concur, and this is actually a known regression in Xfce.Stuart_M wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2019 7:55 pmActually the issue involves all the little pop-up windows that one would get that give a brief explanation of what the icon in the panel is whenever the mouse cursor is hovered over it. For example the Panel icon for adjusting the monitor brightness will display a small pop-up window which just says "Computer" when the mouse is hovered over it (of course when that window can actually be seen).dolphin_oracle wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2019 7:36 pm ...this is specific to the volumicon that displays in the panel.
My original post mentioned only the speaker icon, but I was not thorough in my testing. Playing more with the new 19-beta-3, I find that I cannot see any of the small information pop-up windows with a horizontal Panel on the bottom.
I know it's a small matter. I just thought it'd be an easy fix since MX-18 had no problem with it, but 19-beta-3 does.
Edit: After more testing I found that some display above (visible) and some below (not visible). The following panel icons appear in the panel with the resultant message when the mouse cursor is hovered over it:
Bluetooth (no message displays)
Speaker ("Master 61%" displays below)
Update ("3 new updates available" displays above)
Unmount ("Unmount" displays below)
Circle icon ("Computer" displays below)
Computer box ("Ethernet network connection 'Wired connection 1' active" displays below)
Paperclip icon (no message displays)
Time ("Fri 04 Oct 2019 08:14:10 PM EDT" displays above)
Green icon ("Log Out..." displays above)
So under the conditions I set in my original post (https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 32#p531232), in MX19-beta-3, some pop-up windows will display above the Panel, and some below.
Jerry3904, thanks for the explaination in your post #29.

If you can stand the panel size, setting to a size less than 29 seems to help, for systray icons in the 22px range. also, setting the systray icons to a larger percentage of the panel width also helps. so some ratio of panel size to systray icon size seems to be in play

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
I've got my panel set to 42 wide (1920x1080 screen) and all of the tool tips come up below except for Workspace 1 on the WorkSpace Switcher which shows above because there's not enough room below. Hovering on the Workspace2 side shows below because it's only 1 line so it fits.

At 32px wide the panel tooltips all display below and to the right of their icons.

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
Beta3 is almost production-quality - everything works as advertised, plus its just Gorgeous
Well Done Team
Xfce4 is such a big improvement on Xfce3 that its almost sacrilege to install Kde5
But install it, I did .... it too works as advertised - again - Kudo to Devs
Highest Regards
Jack
PS - anybody have a [kde5] hack for that spastic mouse ?

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
I forgot to mention: MX Linux strikes again! When I posted above about panel width vs. tooltip location I was in 19b3 and when logging into the forum I had interference from my touchpad, so I went to MXPI to install Touchpad Indicator, and Lo! It was preinstalled! All I had to do was start it, configure it (to disable the touchpad when a mouse is connected), and set it to autostart. Once again, MX seems to be tailoring their distro specifically for me.
(I had to install in in 18.3.)

Re: MX-19 Beta 3 Feedback
That is probably dependent on screen size and display settings. I have not found the panel size that shows all popups on a 21 inch 1920x1080 screen.JayM wrote: Sat Oct 05, 2019 2:43 am At 32px wide the panel tooltips all display below and to the right of their icons.

I see the error in the photo below when enabling persistence on a live USB? It doesn't seem to cause a problem.
Is it significant?
