Coincidence?
The recent kernel upgrade, linux-image-4.19.0-6-amd64, reduced CPU temps by a factor of 4.

Pinta is missing from MX19 repo while still present on MX18. What is going to happen after beta? I ask because I find Pinta an good tool for quick photo edits (GIMP is overkill for me..).

Assuming I have MX 19 Beta running well now, is it reasonable to assume I won’t have to re-install once the RTM release is available?

You will have to install the Final version. There will not be an upgrade path from the Betas.linuxcolonel wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 12:21 pm Assuming I have MX 19 Beta running well now, is it reasonable to assume I won’t have to re-install once the RTM release is available?

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback
I am starting to wonder if that remains technically true at this point when the new Debian and Xfce have been well integrated. I intend to not reinstall on a laptop, and expect it will work fine but not be identical to Final.

The problem with that approach for users is if they run into problems, and then fail to mention that when asking for help.Jerry3904 wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 12:52 pm I am starting to wonder if that remains technically true at this point when the new Debian and Xfce have been well integrated. I am considering the same approach on my desktop.Jerry3904 wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 12:52 pm I am starting to wonder if that remains technically true at this point when the new Debian and Xfce have been well integrated. Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback
The big visual glitch in beta 2.1 is shutdown/restart that takes you to LightDM for a moment. If this is fixed in final it's a big improvement. If it's not, then running a beta a little longer might not hurt. In any case, when someone posts "Quick System Info" it will probably show if it's a beta install or not. If there is a problem the first suggestion might be: Install final and then come back if problem persists.richb wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 3:45 pmI am considering the same approach on my desktop.Jerry3904 wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 12:52 pm I am starting to wonder if that remains technically true at this point when the new Debian and Xfce have been well integrated. Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.
