Also, Hello there! i've just newly installed mx linux 19 beta, i have an amd laptop with vega 10 graphics, is there an automatic support for this graphics card? is there anything i have to do to get it working propertly?

MX uses SysVinit by default.
It uses systemd-shim for app compatibility.

Systemd, per se, Is not installed.

MOSTLY correct. systemd is very much installed, its just not used as the init system by default.

amd provides the amdgpu open source graphics driver. this is included in the kernel by default these days. Some graphics cards may require a later version kernel than we ship by default.

do other ports not work, or just the front ones? and If I understand correctly, the front ports work when running the live-usb? Do the rear ones still work when running the live-usb?

The front ports work with live-usb, but not with the installed beta.
I have the mouse and keyboard plugged into the rear ports; they continue to work with the installed beta, as well as the live-usb.

Full disclosure, I have the MX19-beta2.1 64-bit running superbly on my Dell laptop. As noted in the QSI of my previous posting, the MX19 on the IBM desktop is the 32-bit version.

I'm new to mx linux and an beginner in linux. I just downloaded and installed mx linux 19 beta, and now when i run systemctl, it gives me this same error for almost everything, how do i fix it please?
it says "system has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1). Can't operate. Failed to connect to bus: Host is down." Any idea how to fix this? thankyou for your help

I think you should clarify what full command you were trying to run. I suspect from your later post that you were merely trying to initiate or set up some fstrim commands and processes, rather than that you want to run in systemd per se. Pls clarify.

If you just followed commands on the web for fstrim and they assumed you were using systemd, you would likely have got those error messages.

But now that you know fstrim is set up already by default in mx, do you actually still need those fstrim commands you wanted to run?

I suppose I thought since I've never run it that it wasn't there. Must have been dreaming because it must be installed since it is in the grub menu.

hello, i'm just an beginner in Linux, so does this mean everytime i see and systemd that i replace it with something else? just what do i do? i don't even know what to do? if i see someone giving an tutotial on linux but its in in 'Systemctl" or "systemd", then what do i do? Thankyou
