Update to Papirus icons
Re: Update to Papirus icons
@ richb:
It's your good right to name it and see it however you want and then, there are a couple of facts.
We've got some 1000 Linux Distributions (300+), but one can hardly find a hand full of working ones and exactly one that one could recommend, without feeling guilty, when something goes wrong.
Then about me, I use computers since 1981 and have many years of helping others behind me as well as pretty good UI/UX knowledge. I'm not discussing here about what I (dis~)like', but what's 'it must be' because of certain rules (called Standards or Norms), which are results of studies done by many researchers over many years and in different fields.
And then, there is MX itself. If you would be the Nr. 1001 on DistroWatch or if I wouldn't appreciate your Distribution, I probably wouldn't bother, but -- you're soon to be Nr. 1 and it's really sad to see the Nr. 1 looks like sh ... hhhhhhhhhh.
The worst of all that, all those UI/UX issues could be fixed in a day (or three), but no, people rather continue discussions until MX 29 is out, instead applying (what they have) the (good) solution laying in the mailbox and then start searching (and discussing) for even better one.
It's not that hard to reconfigure Whisker and the toolbar and fix that 'icons inconsistency looks' and make MX look like Nr. 1 too.
I could also resend you my files again if they got lost from whatever reason. It's a simple matter of will to fix it on your side.

Re: Update to Papirus icons
It seems you have good ideas and at the same time I understand asqwerth and the others, they have so little time.
I hope you'll soon find a way to work together to improve what can be done.

Re: Update to Papirus icons
I have the files, all versions, no need to resend.
We appreciate your attention to this matter, and take the question seriously. No changes happen here without careful evaluation from many sides, and that doesn't happen in a couple of days. But we are committed to having a new set ready for the next release of MX and hope to be able to work in a positive atmosphere with you and other users.

Re: Update to Papirus icons
Can we get 20190817 release into the test repo?

Re: Update to Papirus icons
While browsing Gnome look I noticed some interesting new features in Papirus for us MX people.
Added distributor logos (thx to @creepertron95):
Absolute Linux, Alpine Linux, Android, ArchBang, AryaLinux, Condres OS, Crux Linux, Devuan, Knoppix, MX Linux
I also noticed that first MX 19 beta used more recent Papirus release than the second beta.- Added symlinks for apps of MX Linux
Re: Update to Papirus icons
Are you sure? Which were the things/icons that were older in the second beta?
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Re: Update to Papirus icons
First beta used Papirus release from July, second beta from February. For example, this is old Transmission icon as seen in beta 2:asqwerth wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2019 10:28 am Are you sure? Which were the things/icons that were older in the second beta?
And this is the new one from beta 1:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Update to Papirus icons
Odd, since both betas should be using Buster's papirus theme: https://packages.debian.org/buster/papirus-icon-theme
Re: Update to Papirus icons
Here are the latest versions from upstream Debian for MX 15-19, from 17 August. One nice thing is that they now only take up 129 MB installed--I remember the first version we added to the repo taking up almost 300 MB when installed, and it took a very long time on slower machines.

If they look OK, we can put them directly in the main repo.

Re: Update to Papirus icons
I'm away from my computer for the next few days.
Could someone check the mx19 beta 2.1 , see if the new papirus set takes over and replaces all the new MX icons with their own (usually more generic, if symlinks are used) icons?
