I have used all of these, even if only briefly, so they do work to some extent with MX 18.3, but don't know which GTK version that is.asqwerth wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2019 9:12 pm Some of the themes mentioned are gtk2 themes (dust sand Mac) or gtk3 themes made for older versions of gtk3 and no longer maintained (adwaita xfce dark). Gtk2-only themes won't theme gtk3 apps, including the whole xfce 4.14. Outdated gtk3 themes may show up weird or wrong when used on newer versions of gtk3 .
So perhaps you may wish to have a separate thread discussing what themes are nice AND work well with debian buster's gtk version 3.24.
To ensure MX-19 / Debian "Buster" compatiblity, should we look for themes that are explicitly stated as compatible with GTK3 ver. 3.34, or 3.3+, etc?
Just as an aside, this was interesting:

I'm trying to get a handle on some of the basic concepts.Oh NO! they’re breaking themes again!
Just spent over an hour trying to track down definitive information sources for:
A simple HTML table would work very well as a concise central information source for these essential facts, but I could not find any.
- Debian releases, code names, GTK version and kernel version
- MX releases and their relative base versions of Debian, GTK, etc.
- GTK+ is now just GTK?
- A Debian "Stretch" release reference to GNOME desktop version going from 3.14 to 3.22 looks very similar to the GTK version 3.24.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debian_ve ... _(Stretch)
Do they refer to the same or completely different things? - Debian Buster info says nothing about the GTK (or kernel) version.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debian_ve ... 0_(Buster)
Finally ended up here, but don't know where to look ...
https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/ ... ex.en.html - MX releases:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MX_Linux#Releases
https://mxlinux.org/previous-releases/
That is something that could be discussed in a separate thread, as you suggested.
Example: One the those themes, Adwaita Dark Green, states
--------------Originally built for GTK 3.16 and actively maintained for GTK 3.20+.
Regarding the "likes" for the Nordic theme, I don't use it because the highlighting colors do not provide enough contrast.
The highlight contrast is also inconsistent between the base Nordic and the Nordic-bluish-accent variant.
IF that was fixed, it would be more useable, IMHO.

https://mxlinux.org/current-release-features/
This is a great page, but it does not state the current version number.
Although the code name changes wih every release, the base version number remains the same through all point releases.
I think it would be very helpful if the page Heading stated the base version number, like:
My apologies if I have swayed this thread away from it's intended use.Current Release 18.x Features
18.x refers to version 18.0 and all version 18.x point releases
