good question. I don't really know what timeshift requires.newguy wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 4:37 pmGreat, thank you. The only serious issue I've encountered so far is during the install process.
If I choose to format my root partition with Btrfs the installer accepts this and then, when it begins formatting my partitions, it pops up an error saying "Failed to format required partitions." Then I'm punted back to the previous screen where I can launch the partition manager or select guided or manual partitioning.
The reason for this issue seems pretty clear, the mkfs.btrfs program is not available on the live disc. The installer's log file contains these lines:I confirmed the program mkfs.btrfs is not in my user's path. This should be an easy fix if the mkfs.btrfs program is installed on the live disc.Code: Select all

Question: Will MX's Btrfs layout be compatible with Timeshift? I think it uses the Ubuntu-style layout and it would be a handy option to have under MX.

According to the Timeshift website, it requires separate root (@) and home (@home) sub-volumes to be set up when the filesystem is created. There is a brief explanation here: https://teejeetech.in/timeshift/dolphin_oracle wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 4:40 pmgood question. I have absolutely no idea why, because I'm sure I rechecked after I did a software update a few hours ago, but I just had a look into MX19ß2.1, and xsetwacom --list is working again for my Huion H610 tablet!!

Yeah: we found the problem and fixed it, and the upgrade just went through. May require a log out/in to show up.

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback
We should be getting a nvenc-enabled ffmpeg 4.1.4 update for MX 19 soon, but we will need someone to test it--ideally with the snap and the repo version of OBS studio, too.

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback
So just wanted to share that I went back to MX 18.3 and my USB HDD is working again. So it IS a bug in the beta. . .
Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback
"you can keep clicking next while the copy is going on...no need to wait."
I didn't know that... I learn something every day... (I forget stuff too)
"It is explained in the User Manual that you can input data and make selections whilst the installation is proceeding."
Hey, manuals, I've heard of them - do they come in Audible form?
Either way, I didn't remember the sequence and having to click Next from MX-18 installs (there's no way I can remember back to MX-17)
Thanks guys

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback
Well the best point is that the panel on the left explains how to do things as the Installer goes along, and there it says you can continue to go through the screens as the installation proceeds. No need to look at the Manual.
