MX19 beta 2.1 with systemd, right click on mx updater does nothing

#271 Post by imschmeg »

When running the recent beta (MX-19beta-2.1_x64 patito feo September 8 2019) with the systemd advanced boot option. Right click on the MX Updater item in the panel, and nothing happens (no options menu is raised). Mouse clicks elsewhere on the panel work as well as in sysV.

Have tried this when running under both virtualbox and on normal HD partition, with similar results. My virtualbox quickinfo is:

MX 19 beta 2.1 -- USB external hdd issue

#273 Post by AuthorCraigHansen »

I'm using MX 19 beta 2.1, I backed up my HOME directory on my 1 GB WD Passport external HDD, and although it worked on beta 1, when I plug it in now, the drive icon comes up greyed out and refuses to mount. I have files I need to get to, and cannot. What's wrong?

a password is not asked for when you click on the drive?

Greetings Fehlix

Worked like a charm - thank you ... :number1:

Installed KDE-standard - not good, cannot even find/activate 'systemsettings[5]

Any more great ideas?

Regards

Jack

Strangely I tried to delete VLC, and synaptic wanted to delete a whole bunch
of libreoffice library files ... coincidence?

Regards

Jack

PS - of course the big test will come when I install KDE standard ...

dolphin_oracle wrote: Thu Sep 12, 2019 5:53 pm chris,

lets' purge out any nvidia stuff remaining.

Code: Select all

ddm-mx -p nvidia
reboot, and then try

Code: Select all

sudo apt install bumblebee-nvidia nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver-libs nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver-libs:i386 nvidia-legacy-390xx-kernel-dkms
Nope; it completed with no errors, only the usual message about needing to reboot to enable the new driver. I did that, but inxi -G shows the Nvidia driver as N/A.

Because I don't really understand any of this stuff, I did a fresh install, and ran the commands again, but got the same result.

Code: Select all

chris@mx19b2NV:~/Desktop
$ optirun inxi -G
[ 34.835869] [ERROR]No bridge found. Try installing primus or virtualgl.

I have not tested on this machine prior to b2 unfortunately. If it would help, I'm happy to install b1 on it and try.

The only other dual-graphics laptop I have is the same make/model - a Dell E6430. I wonder if there is anyone else who could test?

Chris
