ah...no its not installed or no you can't check ;) :p

assuming you mean no not installed, good that gives an avenue to check.

is a new package for buster, so it may be required.

I've done another test to try and see why the panel and Conky flicker in VirtualBox.

I booted off the ISO and selected VirtualBox video driver, but I noticed that my virtual screen is defaulted by 800x600, it does not flicker at all though.

But if I change the display size inside MX it starts to flicker again.

Code: Select all

Graphics: Device-1: VMware SVGA II Adapter driver: vmwgfx v: 2.15.0.0 bus ID: 00:02.0
           chip ID: 15ad:0405
           Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: vmware unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa
           resolution: 1280x800~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: SVGA3D; build v: 2.1 Mesa 18.3.6 direct render: Yes
Within the VM Settings I changed the default Graphics Controller to VBoxVGA and rebooted.
The screen scaled on its own perfectly fine and the flickering seems to have gone away.

Code: Select all

Graphics: Device-1: InnoTek Systemberatung VirtualBox Graphics Adapter vendor: VMware
           driver: vboxvideo v: 6.0.10_Debian r132055 bus ID: 00:02.0 chip ID: 80ee:beef
           Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: modesetting unloaded: fbdev,vesa
           alternate: vboxvideo resolution: 1920x912~60Hz
So it looks like the vmwgfx driver has issues.

Please ignore my item about the mouse cursor size.... it seems that I forgot that I had scaling (150%) on the monitor that I keep my VirtualBox screens on!

Oddly it didn't affect anything desktop or anywhere else.... just the mouse cursor, which is why I even said anything. But it can be chalked up to user configuration error.

I guess I at least don't have any real issues so far with the beta at all so far.

I noticed a reference to the Spanish forum about Google Earth. The pro version doesn't like the Intel driver, and you have to use Modsetting for it to work (testing on this and another distro). I have an earlier version (rpm only), which does work with the Intel driver, but since XFCE4 went to v4.14, it's occasionally closing unexpectedly. The Pro-version problem isn't a consequence of our beta version, and I don't think the other one is either. But I thought I'd mention it.

Didn't know that. I have seen no reason to switch to the Intel driver, so GE works fine.

I placed the iso on flash drive, using MultiBootUSB. It will not boot beyond first page(sorry, no screenshot). I tried Grub, Grub2, and other available options (within the Grubs), and still the same. I run AntiX from MultiBoot USB with no problems, and would really like to try out MX. I realize I can burn iso to disc, and probably to a different flash, but I prefer MutiBoot USB.Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Gerson: because of your suggestion, I directly upgraded to MX Linux 19 Beta 1.
I was able to enable recovery mode in the Grub, no problem.
Still not working the latest Google Earth 7.3, which installs correctly.
The Nvidia Legacy driver is not available for my card.
Google Earth 7.1 that works, can not be installed for lack of dependencies, which I downloaded from
Jessie's repo: lsb-core lsb-invalid lsb-securityy and so I could install.
Greetings.

That's right, I didn't put it directly into English for developers to check for origin.
