MXPI Installer will add latest repo-key from softmaker,
which they have not changed still the same:

Code: Select all

pub rsa2048 2018-01-04 [SC]
      CC7D2EDF4808EFFA0E00FC723413DA98AA3E7F5E
uid SoftMaker repository (GPG key for signing files) <info@softmaker.com>
EDIT: Anyway, I'll go and add some double check in case fetching or adding the key failed...

How do you open the Terminal window?

W: GPG error: http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt wheezy InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 3413DA98AA3E7F5E
E: The repository 'http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt wheezy InRelease' is not signed.
I can't reproduce this issue. Without seeing the full console log, it's only a guess: The only reason I can think of that you manually might have added the softmaker repo, without adding the the public signing key first. The MXPI procedure will make sure that a public key will be added.

Hi Thanks for the Reply, I did not add anything manually - see Dolphin_Oracle reply and I will provide a copy of the mxpi.log - which contains, I believe, all the apps I installed incl Atom and Sofmaker

thanks...we probably need to update the the softmaker routines in mxpi (looks like atom should be working). do you still have a /var/log/mxpi.log (or /var/log/mxpi.log.old) file showing the errors?
Hi Dolpin

I will send the file via a pm as it will have limited DL to it. I hope it contains additional info to help

Thanks, we will adjust the FreeOffice installer, in case the public-signing key could not fetched due to a network or server issue.

Selecting "Square Icons" fixes the problem at the expense of moving the icons too far apart. What you can do is to increase the "Maximum Icon Size" a little. You'll find that the icons don't really get bigger but move a little further apart, fixing the problem! Maybe this default spacing can be changed for the final release.
Another way to do this without hunting for that right-click spot in the system tray is to just right click any empty space on the panel itself, then on the menu shown select 'panel' then 'panel preferences' and then in the dialog that is displayed select the 'items' tab. that will show all the panel components including the 'notification area'. Select that, then click the 'edit' button from the list to the right. This will give you the controls you mention above. I hope that helps :)

The beta installed beautifully as a single-boot OS on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. No problems at all installing 'my essential software' from MXPI and Synaptic. Updates going well. No problems at all.
I'm very happy so far, and my previous experiences with MX-14 right through to MX-18 suggest to me that I will continue to be very happy with it!

Many thanks for a superb Beta!

I am still having probs trying to get the panel to be transparent. So far making it transparent makes everything in the panel disappear. Uhm.. I only want the BACKGROUND to disappear.

Has anyone gotten that to work? If so.. how?

for the HP, sounds like secure boot is still enabled.
Thanks!
The HP doesn't have secure boot, but I'm beginning to think that because I already have Debian 10 installed on that machine there might be a quirk in boot up defaulting to Debian instead of allowing me to choose MX 19. Like I said, the Live usb of MX 19 will boot, and MX 18 will boot on the machine.
