As you can see in the screenie.. I checked that.. they won't do it. In 18.3, yep, not in 19.

I had a simple and fast install. A couple of small changes, in the choice of location for Grub, option two seeming to correspond to a root location given I wanted to retain my existing Grub manager. A slight change to the password entry was the only other difference I noticed.

I was slightly confused by my dual monitor setup but quickly noticed the new layout tool in Settings, where I always go to right after rebooting, along with MX Tweak, Disk Manager, Panel/clock/Thunar preferences and options.

Nice updated icons in MX Tools. A new iDeviceMounter for those things....

Synaptic defaults worked quickly and updated fast, along with Australian spelling and thesaurus packages I typically add.

Looking forward to exploring more.

However it sounds like you don't have a public key for those repos installed. You need to get the public key for those repos from SoftMaker and install it using sudo apt key add <gpg-key-file> and then run sudo apt update to sync it all up.
Thanks - I do understand that - however you are proving the installation process via the MX Package Installer - so that method should work? Should it not ?

From the official page they give the instructions to place the public key and to have available the updates:

thanks...we probably need to update the the softmaker routines in mxpi (looks like atom should be working). do you still have a /var/log/mxpi.log (or /var/log/mxpi.log.old) file showing the errors?

I can't reproduce this issue. Without seeing the full console log, it's only a guess: The only reason I can think of that you manually might have added the softmaker repo, without adding the the public signing key first. The MXPI procedure will make sure that a public key will be added.

I reported earlier that Mugshot demanded a password then rejected it. Well, after a reboot, it demanded it once, accepted it, and since then hasn't demanded it at all. Weird but all working correctly now.

About Eadwine's problem with Notification Area (System Tray) icons being a bit distorted, I fixed this on mine, by finding a spot on the tray that, when right-clicked, gets you access to its settings and not an individual app's settings. Bring up the Properties icon. Selecting "Square Icons" fixes the problem at the expense of moving the icons too far apart. What you can do is to increase the "Maximum Icon Size" a little. You'll find that the icons don't really get bigger but move a little further apart, fixing the problem! Maybe this default spacing can be changed for the final release.

ugh...the softmaker people are irritating...they've changed their repo keys (probably) and hid the information inside their deb for freeoffice.

the freeoffice install routine is supposed to download a signing key prior to enabling the repo and installing the package. I suspect, but I cannot confirm right now, that the key has expired or that they changed the signing key but didn't publish it. will have to investigate later.
