Seems "Root Terminal" menu entry didn't made into beta-1.

Re: MX-19 Beta 1 Feedback
for you guys with the nvidia-persistenced problem, I think just remove it for now.
and if it looks like your system will survive then run it again without the -s.
once debian settles down you can reinstall it.
Code: Select all
sudo apt purge nvidia-persistenced -s
once debian settles down you can reinstall it.

Thanks Dolphin I was about to post this on the forums, I found another bug (idk if you would call it a bug), when you install Chromium from the MX Package Manager and also from the Terminal you can't open Chromium till you install chromium-sandbox. Probably need to add that line in the MX Package Manager.dolphin_oracle wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2019 11:33 am for you guys with the nvidia-persistenced problem, I think just remove it for now.

Re: MX-19 Beta 1 Feedback
I rebooted, nvidia still working, no errors. I did a synaptic reload on the repositories, no updates, no nvidia error messages. the nvidia-persistenced shows as installed in synaptic version 418.74.
Still no samba shares on the home network, which usually happens automagically!
Any ideas on this? Does anyone have samba shares on their network?

Have you tried installing something else already?entropyfoe wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2019 11:53 am I rebooted, nvidia still working, no errors. I did a synaptic reload on the repositories, no updates, no nvidia error messages. the nvidia-persistenced shows as installed in synaptic version 418.74.

Nothing seemed amiss until I did that and found out. If you don't get that error then it's at least sorted on your end :)

Can anyone see samba shares on your local network?
I usually see a windows 7 machine I can log into shares. No configuration needed, it is there in the file manager, Network, browse network.
I click the Windows network icon, and I get smb:///

Re: MX-19 Beta 1 Feedback
OK, so all my testing (antix 19 beta , MX 19 beta) - I do on a fourth partition, so I can boot back to my working MX 18.3 and see hwo it is working.
In response to smb://mshome/, which produces a list of machines on the network, including the windows 7 machine, which I can log in to.
Instead the beta displays a pop up window stating: Failed to open "File System"
Failed to retrieve share list from server: Success."
Hmmm, does not sound like success to me.
On a better note, I really like the FAQ. It is great for those new to MX, well written.
