I've never encountered this problem at all, and I've tried all the early alphas.

I do not have it...

1. About Me/Mugshot demands my password, but won't accept it. My password is the same as the root password, so it's not accepting either.

2. I've made a change to the conky rc files which means that they only work if you have compositing enabled (xfce or compton), but if so, they work better! These should be the only "own_window_" lines. own_window_color should be deleted.

Code: Select all

own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_type desktop
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
own_window_class Conky
3. A little thing, which may have also applied to previous versions but I only just discovered it. If you use "Intel Driver" instead of "modsetting driver", Google Earth Pro won't run properly. It runs after a fashion but the main window is frozen.

Just installed the beta, the one thing I noticed is that even though I told the liveUSB the timezone, it didn't handle it like it should, it was 2 hours ahead IIRC. Only when I ticked that it should use LOCAL in mx time settings did it jump to the right time. That is the only thing I saw so far that was wonky, but easily sorted. I rebooted back into 18.3 right after the install, just to see that it was still there  I am such a wuss. ;)

Yes, confirmed.

Not here (tested in VM).

I tested this, and it's not asking for any password in my case.

Thanks for the suggestion. In MX-19 compositing is enabled by default, so that should be no problem.

I'm getting errors during codecs install, first installed nvidia driver, which worked.
Performed a reboot, installed the codecs and when it was around 99% (Fix missing dependencies), it presented me an error: Error running 'apt-get -fm install' command.

Not seeing that here. Maybe try a second reboot (which nvidia sometimes requires) and try again; if it continues, paste back Quick System Info.

Let's see what's different. Do run this from terminal command line:

Code: Select all

sh -x /usr/bin/xflock4
the output shall be something like this:

Code: Select all

sh -x /usr/bin/xflock4
+ xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/LockCommand
+ LOCK_CMD=
+ [ ! -z ]
+ [ ! -z xfce4-screensaver-command --lock ]
+ xfce4-screensaver-command --lock
+ exit
:puppy:
