Yup! antiX is a completely separate distro, also based on Debian and partners with MX. Actually the name MX borrows from it's parent, Mepis, and the X is from antiX. Common heritage, both awesome!

antiX is a fast, lightweight and easy to install systemd-free linux live CD distribution based on Debian Stable for Intel-AMD x86 compatible systems. antiX offers users the “antiX Magic” in an environment suitable for old and new computers.

MX Linux is also systemd-free although one has the option at boot time to select systemd.

MX and antiX share the same developers and systemd-free mentality.

An explanation of antX.

antiX was developed as an offshoot of Mepis, then became an independent system with no relation to Mepis. MX was developed with the help of antiX developers and MX developers. It incorporates features designed by those developers notably USB Live persistence. MX and antiX are separate Linux distros and share unique apps but are very different systems.

AntiX is more 'old school', uses window managers instead of a complete desktop environment, keeps you closer to the system, instead of hiding everything under a GUI, (requires a certain amount of command line usage).

It is built for use on older systems in mind, those with less resources, so uses light weight software in the main, but runs happily on just about any system.
(FOSS, Linux, & BSD since 1999)

right, that's a great question... and has been previously discussed (repeatedly, and in great depth)
and doesn't fit here in the "antiX-17.4.1 now out" thread
