Thank you for that link and generally for information.

I've never heard about Tutanota until now, but I just set up an e-mail there, so thanks again.
Great :) Let us know how it works out for you.
It's like MX - it just works ;) I've already did short video for other users to promote the idea - which is great I think (I mean idea ;) ). Attachments can be encrypted as well and with 1GB with free account - it's enough space for many things. And still - premium accounts are not expensive - especially when we talk about business.

Cool :) Tutanota does seem like a well kept secret. Encrypting email is dead simple with it, though I just use it as a regular email account. People complain about Gmail and Google spying, Tutanota is both secure and private. I understand they developed their Calendar app in about 2 months. Protonmail has been promising a Calendar app for about a year without one showing up.

That's the thing - even unencrypted message from the world is kept encrypted on the account (if I understand correctly the specification).

Well, it is young start-up (company) with probably young people - youth is an energy, speed and motivation to act ;)

They remind me of another small German company and group of developers--Softmaker Office. Both have continually improved their product and have a free and paid version with the free version not being crippled or otherwise downgraded.

I've spent quite some hours reading (primarily on the Tutanota website), & I must say that I've come away quite impressed. Thanks @KBD for your OP. :)

I installed their free email client, with my fingers crossed that it would work on Waterfox v56.2.11, it installed & setup without a complaint. :D

I played around with it & the Calendar a bit too, read more of their site, & then bought the Premium version. I can hopefully get many years of use out of this project. I somehow doubt that they will sell out to people that start closing up the source.

Being produced & sitting on servers in Germany, "should" mean that combined with being open source software, that this product will remain reliable for years to come. I very much like that they are working on becoming Quantum computer proof too.

Anyway, thanks again @KBD, & of course to the project members themselves, as it is great to have finally found a cloud based project that I think I can trust.

@Buck Fankers (love the name by the way :) ), I thought that my opening an account with Tutanota via my MX desktop machine that I was using their desktop beta client software (in Waterfox too :) )?

When I get around to stuffing around with my Android phone so that it will read a USB stick, I'll install the Android beta client on my phone. Which I think will be a giant step forward (especially for me, as I don't use my smartphones over the internet, apart from updates over wireless).

(I'll use it via Waterfox on Win7 too.)

They are all beta versions at this point, as there are more features coming before the release will be a v1.

Well, it is similar as in browser, but still it is beta version.

I've created short video with Tutanota appImage as well:

appImage from this link:
https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/desktop-clients/

After downloading, just click an appImage file.

handy, glad that you thoroughly checked it out. And glad to hear that you saw the same things I was seeing :) I wish them well and great success. They seem to be on the right path.

Yes, and it works. It is an app image. You just need to right-click on the download and set permissions, allow it to launch as an exe program. It will stay in the MX panel beside wifi, bluetooth and the rest. I don't like it there all the time so I used the MX menu editor to create a launcher and placed it under favorites. You have to pick an icon for it and you are good to go.
