Looks like many cases of the old adage: Dogs have masters but cats have servants.

Everything will be fine for your cat. I know the feeling for animals, at home we have 4 were 5 but one ran out into the street and was hit by a car.
No todos ignoramos las mismas cosas.

Did you know that cats can have ACL surgery? And that it's expensive? Not as expensive as a divorce, though, so there's that.Eadwine Rose wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 4:39 am Just wanting to get good thoughts my way.. or rather.. my cat's way. Doerak (Rascal in English) will have to stay sober tonight, and tomorrow morning he needs to be at the vet between 8 and 8:30.
He lost the crown of a tooth and the nerve is open in his mouth.. that HAS to hurt. So.. we arranged for this to be taken care of tomorrow.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Cat is currently settling for the fact that he isn't getting fed. I am suffering the wrath of mew
In about an hour I am going to get the car from the garage box (got this locked spot that the car is in when I don't use it) and then it is catch the cat time.

I wish you all the best Eadwine! I remember how rattled I was when my dog needed surgery.
I've gotten a lot out of the book Guardians of Being: Spiritual Teachings from Our Dogs and Cats. The quote on the back of the book says:
I have lived with many Zen masters, all of them cats.

Re: My cat will get operated on tomorrow...
My dog's a rescue so he is a little strange sometimes. Today he got wet out in the rain so I wanted to towel him off before he showered my house with wet dog water. The towel totally frightened him off. So I had to coax him back inside and then towel him.
I was recently told that none of that stuff matters. You just need to love them to death (an idiom).

Ah yeah.. my old dog, long gone now, was a rescue as well. When we put our slippers on when we got home, oh dear goodness the poor thing nearly crawled under the carpet, she was soooo scared!
I decided to try and reverse the bad image into something good. She loved getting chased around the table (that dog was coo coo nuts, trust me haha), so sometimes I would pick up the slipper and gently tapped it on her buttocks saying "get the doggie, get the doggie!" She was scared of it, but the play was SO much fun that she tolerated the thing and slowly over the course of many months she learned that a slipper meant PLAYTIME!!! instead of getting a beating.
Poor thing.
