Recently I started noticing frequent sound skips in the Spotify desktop client. Kind of like you're listening to a cheap CD player and you keep bumping it. Lol.
Not much has changed in my system in a while other than normal update type stuff. I tried playing some local files and no issues there. Then tried playing PlutoTV for a while in my browser and no issues there either. And finally I tried the browser version of Spotify and it works fine too.
So it looks like it's just the desktop client. Ugh. Has anyone else noticed that issue and if so have you found a fix. I like using the desktop client.

Re: Spotify sounds skips
Try starting it in the terminal, maybe it will spit something out in there that could lead us to a solution.

Re: Spotify sounds skips
I have experienced numerous sound issues - rectified most of it, but found Firefox/browsing to be
the main culprit - it simply hogs a lot of resources .. quit your browser, see if it goes away/reduces

Re: Spotify sounds skips
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I had planned on testing the Liquorix kernel in the test repos this weekend anyway and I just did that. Things seem to be much better in Spotify and I haven't noticed the issue in about 2 hours of play since installing it. :)
It could be that I'm just not working my computer as hard since it's the weekend and I'm not actually at work. Lol. We'll see and I'll update again if the issue comes back.

Re: Spotify sounds skips
Well, I was wrong about the Liquorix kernel helping. I just wasn't working the computer hard enough during the weekend I guess.
I ran the desktop client in the terminal and this is the only message displayed which happens before I hit play on anything.
It does appear to be Firefox activity that causes the skips as jackdanielsesq suggested. I always have a ton of tabs open during work and many of the sites are pretty heavy.
The funny thing is though is that the web client for Spotify running in Firefox never skips. Lol. And also nothing else seems to skip.
Here is my inxi output:
