I'm in the process of replacing Mozilla Firefox & Thunderbird.

Firefox was replaced with GNU IceCat for the most part... It was unaffected by Mozilla's Suspicious Certificate Scandal. Coincidental, Maybe? Google is thinking of limiting or killing ad blockers. It could be a Brave new web where everyone else's ad is blocked except for their own? Yes, I was wearing my armadillo shaped tin-foil hat. (A geek twist on The Dukes Of Hazard Movie )

Trying to replace Thunderbird w/ Claws Mail, imported Mail worked fine, the address book is hit & miss.
What is the trick to exporting/importing T-Bird LDIF file to CM so all the fields are recognized?

Exporting the TB address book, according to googlefu:

"Select the address book you want to export. Then click Tools again in the Address Book and select Export... while keeping your address book selected. Save the file somewhere convenient as an LDIF file with whatever filename you wish."

You can then import it in Claws Mail.

I think the OP did that but is saying that not all fields were imported or something like that? That's why I was hoping he'd clarify what the actual problem is rather than just saying it's hit and miss.

Seamonkey and Vivaldi are both Internet suites that have really good e-mail clients. Seamonkey is hosted at Mozilla for now but it's no longer a Mozilla project. Vivaldi is not fully open-source, but "freeware."

Claws is a good e-mail client and quite lite of system resources. But I'm not sure other than importing TB's lDIF file there is anyway to get all the fields imported.
It's been a while since of used CM. You may want to give Evolution a try though it's pretty heavy on resources. Seamonkey's e-mail is basically TB and will import all TB address book without problems. This link maybe of help also : https://itsfoss.com/best-email-clients-linux/

I do not see it as a replacement. Now that I got it figured out, I kinda like it over Tbird.
One thing is that it puts multiple email accounts into just 1 Inbox.
Instead of having to look thru all the duplications that Tbird does, it combines all of it into just one.
So all your Gmail Yahoo Outlook and my Spectrum Email all dump into the same space.
Images work fine, in fact better.
While it starts out with all these sound effects for notification I soon found where that can be changed in settings, and turned them mostly off.

Annoying sounds are just that, annoying, and so are popups.
So I just shut off notifications.

Now the new emails just get highlighted and that is fine.

Each source of the email colorizes them.

Its a lot better because it is NOT complicated.
I recommend giving it a try.

It also loads up much faster than Tbird. Both after initial start and later on.

So while about the same in terms of setting it up, much less to configure and IMHO just overall a better client.

I DO see it as the very BEST Email for MX-LINUX. It is on my fastest email app I have ever ever ever used.

After restarting MX Linux I click on it to load.
Total Load Time is under 1-2 second.
It combines all Inboxes together.

But who cares as this is the best for a simple ;ightweight beautiful EMAIL app.

I can only believe that it must load ahead in Autostart to acheive such fast loading times.

I strongly URGE it to be incorporated into the Install and certainly into the Package Manager in the >Email section.

Simple to install, simpler than thunderbird to setup. Adopts to your theme.

Mailspring will never be a suitable replacement for Thunderbird whilst we continue to support 32-bit machines because it is only available in a 64-bit version.
