When you choose upload files in web-browser ( for example upload img) what you see Dolphin or Thunar?
Not sure but I believe it is an internal XFCE dialog and not a file manager dialog, so not Thunar or Dolphin.

MX Linux' default file manager is Thunar not Dolphin. So not many are using Dolphin. Also it pays to be patient and you may get more suggestions as time goes on.

People here try their best to help you. Moreover, your directive tone comes more and more rude. I've not been able to read a single thank you through your posts yet...

I am using Gnome, had a similar problem. This how it was solved.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install exo-utils
sudo apt-get install xfce4-settings

Run: xfce4-settings-manager
<Preferred Applications><Utilities><File Manager>
Before installing, try:
Run: xfce4-settings-manager
<Preferred Applications><Utilities><File Manager>

EDIT
Doesn't work with "Save As"... it opens Thunar. Works when downloading.... click stratus bar in Chromium.

I did some Googling and one must distinguish between a file manager and file picker. Apps seem to define their own file picker and GTK apps may use a different appearance for a file picker than QT apps. So I do not think this is easily changed. Anyway ugly is in the eye of the beholder. As long as the simple function of picking a file is met what it looks like is pretty immaterial in my opinion.

richb, you are right. I temporarily removed Thunar, the file picker is still there. File manager and File picker are different apps.
