Hello everyone. I am running MX 18.1 64 bit XFCE 4 new install on a Lenovo Thinkpad E520 W/core i3 and Kernal 4.19 & 8 GB memory running xfce desktop Ver. 4.12.3. I use the HDMI port to a LCD monitor with system display settings set to 1920x1080. I searched around and found this issue dating back to 2012 on the Ubuntu bug report site with multiple users having this problem. There appears to be a patch for this I think, which came out in 2014 from this link, but not sure. Here is a link to the xfce bug site: https://bugzilla.xfce.orgshow_bug.cgi?id=11266. How would I implement this if I need to? The way I get around this now is to leave my monitor off when powering up/booting. Once booted, I turn on the monitor and usually the icons are where I positioned them when shutting down.
I have used several flavors of Linux (not xfce) over the years without this problem.
Here is the link from the Ubuntu site: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1335492
This is the patch I think I need, but not sure: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=6763
I'm not very proficient in compiling or creating scripts, but I guess I have to start somewhere.
Thank you in Advance

Re: Desktop icons auto rearrange after reboot
There was a recent post + solution about this on the Xfce Forum IIRC that I will try to find again...here is the thread I was thinking of:

Re: Desktop icons auto rearrange after reboot
Thanks Jerry. I tried changing some settings in MX Tweak /Config Options, and so far it seems to work for me. I check boxed the "Reset Lightdm (login screen)" option and also the "Use intel driver instead of default "modsetting" option, and it seems to work so far. I will update as [Solved] after using this way for a while.
Thanks Again
Thanks Again

Re: [Solved] Desktop icons auto rearrange after reboot
I have rebooted several times and happy to report that icons stay the way I positioned them.
